I've yet to come across a child, of any age, who doesn't have stupid amounts of fun romping and diving around in ball pits and let's be honest, if there were pits big enough for grown ups to play in, we would the moment the kids had gone to bed.

Ball pits are perfect for indoor and outdoor play - I think we can pretty much write off most outdoor play (until September apparently) - they're quick and easy to pop up AND will fold down flat again when you're not using it and want to store it away.

The balls aren't included, so you'll have to grab a bag or two of those - Tesco have bags of 300 for £9.87 instead of £14.87 HERE

These two ball pits are suitable for little ones aged between one and two years old and can both be collected in-store for free, or delivered to your home for an additional £3.

Kids and ball pits/ball dens/call them what you will, go together like strawberries and cream, night and day, black and white; I don't think I've ever come across a child who doesn't like messing around in a huge pile of plastic balls.

This Sizzlin' Cool jumbo ball den is a brightly coloured six-sided ball tent that's suitable for little kids aged six months and over.

It has see-through mesh sides so you can keep an eye on your little one(s) whilst their messing around inside, and there are two circular entry/exit holes on the two of the sides.

Woolworths.co.uk is currently selling 100 play balls for just £2. Whereas they normally cost £8, which is quite expensive, since you can get them at Tesco for r£5, they are now 75% less , which is a serious bargain!

I absolutely love the ballpits at our local soft play centre. It’s great for kids and adults. In fact last week I tweeted about how ball pits should be used in marriage counselling – it’s fab, you can throw things without getting hurt and you end up rolling around laughing. It’s great fun.

Of course, in a home situation most of us don’t have such big ball pits, which at least means you won’t need as many bags to fill up your pool or pit.

And if you don’t have a ball pit, you can still really enjoy these balls though. A friend of ours has a bag full at her home for whenever we visit – my daughter tips it out and spends hours chasing the dogs to get all the balls back in the bag. It’s excellent value for money – especially at £2.

WHAT is with the weather at the moment?!  Summer one minute, all beautiful and blazing and then more like winter the next, with rain, wind and temperatures barely into double-figures.

Our poor kiddies don't know whether they're coming or going, the best clothes policy seems to be wear a t-shirt and shorts, put some wellies on their feet and have a brolly and warm jumper handy, just in case!

And the distress when their favourite garden toy can't be brought inside!  The tears could break the heart of the toughest tough person.

All hail, then, the inflatable ball pit!  Light and easy to move around, almost instant entertainment (well, I suppose that depends on how long it takes you to blow it up...a word to the wise, invest in a foot-pump!) and when deflated hardly takes up any space.  Put it out in the garden when it's sunny and quickly whip it indoors when the rain strikes; simple!

There are two up for grabs here at half-price (down from £15.00 to £7.50) from Tesco - a cute purple swan or a spaceship.  The swan has a hoop to throw the balls through in a netball/basketball stylee and a hoopla 'pole' too and the spaceship....doesn't.

It also doesn't look like the balls are included, but these can be picked up in all sorts of places - there are often deals on these so shop around, otherwise you could end up paying more than you need to!

This three-ring paddling pool is down to £13.60 from its original price of £17.00 and is available in pink as well as blue.

The description of this pool says the sides are of a good height which is good to know - no needless tumbling over the edges! There are no customer reviews as yet. Best of all, when the warmer weather ends you can fill it with balls and have your very own ball pit!
