Baby Freebie: Free Baby Welcome Pack @ Pampers Village

For a new mum there is a lot to take in. You have to eat this, not eat that, do this, don’t do that, stock up on this, avoid that. We all end up with these loooong lists of things we have to buy, do and get. So when a freebie like this comes along it’s really rather lovely.

The Pampers Village promotion is valid until the end of March so you have time to get your baby freebies before it expires. All you need to do is sign up to the site and you’ll get Pampers coupons and offers regularly into your inbox (very helpful once baby is here) and customised newsletters that are tailored to your baby’s development (and your pregnancy).

At the moment they are also giving away a free baby welcome pack for pregnant mums up to 32 weeks. If you sign up now you get 10 New Baby Pampers nappies, one pack of Pampers wipes and a magazine. The offer is open to women living in the UK only.

Milk&more Voucher: Two Weeks Free Milk

by Tamsin Oxford in Freebies on 4 January, 2012 at 3:00 pm

Milk&more Voucher: Two Weeks Free Milk

This is a stonkingly good milk&more voucher that gets you two weeks of free milk to the value of £10! What more could we possibly want from a freebie, I ask you this? I mean, milk not only tastes scrummy but it is excellent for growing bones and teeth – just what your little ones need this cold winter.

So, how do you get to claim your free milk? You need to visit the website (just click the link above) and enter in your postcode and meet your milkman. Then you need to register your details and your regular payment method.

Once you’ve done all of that, browse the shop and place your orders. In your basket, enter the voucher code MILKPPC and click GO. Confirm your order and you’re done! It is that simple. Your £10 discount will be deducted from your first invoice. There are the usual terms and conditions, of course, but there is free delivery and you don’t need to book a delivery slot either. Nice.

The offer is only open to new milk&more customers and the closing date is 31 January 2012.

Bebedelice Baby Cook £47.99 @ Amazon

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 16 October, 2011 at 12:00 pm

Bebedelice Baby Cook £47.99 @ Amazon

The Bebedelice is a multifunctional 5-in-1 food processor that has been reduced from £79.99 to £47.99 on Amazon, a saving of £32 and 40% off the original price. This is a very fancy little gadget that does pretty much everything you can think of so this price seems reasonable.

The Babymoov Bebedelice Multifunciton 5-in-1 food processor comes in red and cream and is brilliant for parents with small kitchens. The Bebedelice is a compact and useful food processor that cooks fresh food, blends it with the included two long blades, warms baby’s bottles and jars, sterilises baby bottles and defrosts preserved foods.

I am rather taken with this chap. I mean, think how much you spend on a blender and then a bottle warmer and then a steriliser? This gadget does all of it. Colour me impressed. Not only does it do everything above but it has an automatic shut off, has two alarms to let you know if things are ready, has a cooking juice container, a warming plate and a bunch of accessories too.

Parents Freebie: Free First Aid Courses @ Tesco Baby & Toddler Club

The Tesco Baby & Toddler Club has relaunched its BabySafe campaign and is offering free short videos, twitter chats and webinars to give parents the help they need to deliver fast and efficient first aid. This is an excellent campaign, especially seeing as silly accidents can mean fatalities or serious injuries if you don’t know something as simple as first aid.

The first of the Tesco BabySafe videos is online now and focuses on prevention in the home, advising you on how to cope with bumps to the head and falls. After each video is launched there will be an expert from the British Red Cross available to answer all your questions during a twitter chat on @TescoBabyClub.

The dates to note are: Burns on 31 October, Meningitis on 21 November, Choking on 09 January, and CPR/Resuscitation on 20 February 2012.

The premise is simple, we get to learn how to administer first aid and how to recognise serious symptoms which, in turn, could save our children’s lives. This is an excellent free initiative that could make all the difference in your life.

Baby Freebie: Free Tube Of Bepanthan Nappy Cream

Baby Freebie: Free Tube Of Bepanthan Nappy Cream

Bepanthan Nappy Care Ointment is actually brilliant and I wish I had known about this when my daughter was a baby because I much prefer it to Sudocreme. The ointment is sooo smooth and I’ve used it for all sorts of injuries and rashes and scrapes since I discovered it. Oh, and I know someone who uses it as a face cream because she swears it works wonders on wrinkles. How useful is that?

So, luckily for us all, Bepanthan are offering a free sample for us to enjoy. All you need to do is click on the icon that says “Claim your free sample” and you’ll be taken through to another page. Here you will be asked to do a survey that will cover quite a bit of ground so be prepared to spend a little time earning your freebie.

The survey won’t actually take you THAT long so it is well worth doing, especially if you are expecting a baby and would like to try before you buy.

Baby Freebie: Moltex Nappy Sample @ Spirit Of Nature

Spirit of Nature are giving away a free Moltex baby nappy sample on their site at the moment. These nappies are pretty cool and, well, having a freebie is also down there with the good things in life, so why not nab one for your baby, or for a friend with a baby?

The process of getting your free Moltex nappy sample is extremely simple. Just click on the enormous green button that says, “Request free nappy sample”, fill in some details, and you are on the way.

There are three different brands to choose from actually, you don’t need to be hung up on Moltex. Any one of the three free nappy brands on offer can be yours. Just choose from Bambo, Moltex or Nature Babycare.

These brands are all very eco aware and come with excellent credentials. We only used disposable nappies that could biodegrade and not add to the horrific landfill of nappies and these particular ranges are among the best. Enjoy your free sample!

To start with you’ll have to register your details with the club and choose all sorts of different options. I am not a fan of the process as there are a ton of boxes to fill in and it took a while for me to test the process.

When you reach the box that asks for a code for a free gift, enter the code AMF10 into the box. This is what will net you that lovely free polar bear so don’t forget it! I still have the adorable free cow that I got from another formula brand, they are surprisingly well made for free gifts.

Baby Freebie: Free MAM Dummy

Baby Freebie: Free MAM Dummy

If you have a tiny tot and fancy trying out a MAM soother for absolutely free, then this is the find of the day for you! Just fill in the online form and a MAM soother aged 0+ months will soon be on its way to you. However, this may need some forward planning as I’m not sure how long it will take to reach you…

To nab your free MAM Mini Ulti 0+ months soother you only need to fill in a short online form and then they will send it to you. They don’t ask for a lot of information and it won’t take you long, but soothers are limited to one per household.

I am having some difficulties accessing other parts of the website but the form itself seems to work just fine for me. I’m not sure if they are having some server difficulties at the moment but I can’t find out more information about the soother itself.

Well, if you have a little one, or are about to have a baby, then go ahead and get yourself this free soother from MAM.

Please note that the image is not necessarily of the free soothers…

Baby Freebies: QV Skincare Samples

by Sarah Macdonald in Freebies on 18 December, 2010 at 11:00 am

Baby Freebies: QV Skincare SamplesYou can’t beat getting something for nothing, so how do you fancy getting your hands on some FREE samples of QV Skincare?

Unless you’ve been down under to Oz, it’s unlikely you’ll have come across QV Skincare for babies before.

It’s the Aussie’s favourite moisturiser and is often recommended by dermatologists there, it was recently launched here and free samples of QV Skincare are up for grabs.

It’s was developed to help treat skin issues and maintain its health and, let’s face it, if it can do the job under the fierce glare of the Aussie sun and their climate then it’s going to have no trouble with our UK skin!

They product range includes bath oil – which is great stuff in general, if you’ve never used it before then definitely try some if it’s included in the free samples!

There’s also cream in a tube, or cream in a tub, skin lotion and body wash if you really don’t like the idea of the bath oil.

I have no idea whether you’ll get a sample of everything or just some of the QV product,s but I’m pretty sure that they’re going to be up to the job of looking after and nourishing scrumptious delicate baby skin.

Kids Freebie: Peppa Pig Advent Calendar

by Tamsin Oxford in Freebies on 3 December, 2010 at 9:00 am

Kids Freebie: Peppa Pig Advent Calendar

The Official Peppa Pig website is currently running an adorable online advent calendar that reveals all sorts of exciting things every day. And, hidden inside one of the days, is a tasty 10% discount voucher off Peppa Pig merchandise in the online store.

To find the advent calendar go to the landing page and then in the top right-hand corner you’ll see a sparkly black sign that says Peppa Pig’s Magic Advent Calendar. Click on that and you’ll be taken to the calendar itself.

Like any normal advent calendar, you only need to click on the relevant day and a special item will be revealed. Each day will bring new surprises, including the nice 10% discount voucher.

Day 1 was a big fat advert to buy Santa’s Grotto, the new Peppa Pig DVD. This didn’t impress me at all, at least give some fun things before you start selling to everyone. However, I was promised that there are free games, activities, colouring sheets and stories on the various days so we’ll forgive day 1.

You can also do a letter to Santa with Peppa Pig, which I thought was really cute. So, even with a fairly false start, it looks promising on the free Peppa Pig advent calendar.

Kill Colds With Home Remedies

by Tamsin Oxford in Features on 2 December, 2010 at 1:00 pm

Kill Colds With Home Remedies

I bet you’ve all been attacked by one bug or another so far this winter. Coughs, colds, sneezes and sniffles leap out at unsuspecting humans as the chill sets in and long walks in the cold drop down our defences. So here are some ace ideas to keep the colds at bay, or soothe them away, without spending a fortune on expensive medicines or risking strange chemicals in their little systems.

Damp towels are a fantastic alternative to expensive humidifiers. No, they are not as steamy, sure, but unless you’re fighting croup or whooping cough, they are a great way of keeping the air moist in your child’s bedroom. Drape them over the radiator and remember to change them when they dry out.

Kill Colds With Home Remedies

Honey is another great soother for a sore throat and a cough. Just make sure that you don’t give it to children under a year old. A spoonful of honey by itself will coat the throat and ease some of the symptoms. Alternatively you can mix it with lemon juice (three to four lemons nicely squeezed), some hot water and then sip it slowly. Lemons have a fabulously high Vitamin C ratio which make them great for helping your body to repel the germs.

If you and your kids are suffering from a blocked and stuffy nose one of the best ways to hasten the cold along is to (wait for it) blow your nose regularly. It sounds terribly obvious and, if you’re a parent of a child under five, somewhat impossible to achieve. My child just can’t get it right which is very frustrating! There are some great tips here at Netmums on how to teach them to do it.

Kill Colds With Home Remedies

Hot drinks are also a proven way of easy nasal congestion and preventing dehydration (well, obviously). The warmth of the drink will ease your inflamed membranes in your nose and throat, and it is a fantastic excuse to drink copious quantities of hot chocolate. Avoid drinking coffee and other caffeinated drinks, though, as those will actually make it worse, instead grab some herbal teas (like Chamomile) and enjoy their health benefits at the same time.

If the damp towels are not really helping with a heavy cough and nose, a steamy bathroom will do the trick. Run a very hot bath, seal the windows and doors – try rolling up a towel or two to block any exits – and sit in the bathroom with your child and show them how to breathe deeply and slowly. You can then use the water to have a nice hot bath once it’s cooled down sufficiently!

Kill Colds With Home Remedies

Another fab tip that was given to me by a doctor friend of mine is to take a damp cloth and bung it in the microwave for a bit. You don’t need those fancy microwavable packs, just take the cloth, ensure it isn’t too hot, and then place it on your nose to ease the pressure and congestion. If the heat doesn’t work, try using frozen peas instead. Cold can be just as effective as heat in this case.

Chicken soup. Oh yes, this is no old wives tale. Chicken soup has scientifically proven properties that ease the symptoms of a nasty cold. Whip up a batch of home soup and freeze it up for using when the colds strike, or get in some tins if the idea of cooking makes you cry. Tinned chicken soup does the job just as well, amazing but true. Chicken soup has anti-inflammatory powers and helps to speed up the movement of mucus, easing congestion for a short period of time.

Kill Colds With Home Remedies

If you’re having trouble sleeping, or if baby has colic, chamomile is the way to go. It is a mild relaxant and sedative that can help you to sleep, plus it is great for upset stomachs – easing the symptoms gently. For yourself, make a strong cup of tea and drink it while it’s hot, for little ones, check with your health visitor as to the best way to prepare and dilute it for their little systems.

Garlic is one big (and very smelly) cure in one. It has antibacterial and antiviral properties that will help to reduce the symptoms of colds and flu and give your body much needed tools to fight off infection. Whip up a very garlicky dinner and get it down everybody’s throats. Or, if you’re the tough sort, chomp a clove or two every day. Possibly warn people if you’re going to do that though…

Kill Colds With Home Remedies

Then whip your ginger out, slice it, and pour some hot water on it. The amount of ginger you use is up to your personal taste (and the age of your child) but it is great for easing head and chest congestion. In fact, you can find a bunch of great recipes using garlic, ginger, lemon and salt on the web – all of which combine powerful natural remedies to create one big cold killer.

So if you’re stuck in the snow and nowhere near a chemist, and your family is coughing and sneezing and feeling vile, then you probably have all the ingredients you need to help everyone feel better right there, right now!

Free PG Tips Monkey Knitting Patterns

Free PG Tips Monkey Knitting Patterns

This is an ace freebie for all you crafty fans out there who’re thinking of whipping up some of your own Christmas presents this year. You can download this free knitting pattern to create the PG Tips monkey and it is really easy enough for most levels of knitter.

These monkeys are really lovely and even I’ve managed to create one for my child. She utterly adores him and her friends want some too! He was easy to make and you can save even more by looking for sales on the recommended wool.

The only bit where I struggled, and to be honest I always struggle here, is in the stitching up at the end. He can be quite a fiddly little monkey when it comes to making him up.

This is an adorable free pattern and definitely a great idea for Christmas.

Free Nature BabyCare Size 1 Nappy

by Sarah Macdonald in Freebies on 10 November, 2010 at 9:00 am

Free Nature BabyCare Size 1 NappyThe landfill facts about disposable nappies are terrifying:

  • We use around 3 billion disposable nappies in the UK
  • 90% of those end up in landfill sites
  • No one knows how long it takes for them to decompose - estimates say about 500 years

It's no wonder more and more parents are turning to real nappies in a bid to do their bit for the environment.

Nature BabyCare are a real nappy company who are also doing their bit too and are offering a free trial of one of their size 1 nappies (size 1 is suitable for babies weighing between 4 and 11 lbs).

Are all real nappies created equal?

Having used various brands of real and disposable nappies in my time, I can safely say no, they're not.

There are lots of real nappy companies out there to choose from, and which ones suit you and your baby can depend on all sorts of things.

So it's great to take advantage of companies who offer you a free nappy, so you can try them for yourself before investing in lots of them.

Just click the link above, read all about Nature BabyCare and then fill in your details to request your free Nature BabyCare size 1 nappy.

Parents Freebie: Free Blind Cord Safety Pack @ RoSPA

by Tamsin Oxford in Freebies on 4 November, 2010 at 6:00 pm

Parents Freebie: Free Blind Cord Safety Pack @ RoSPA

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) is currently running a Blind Cord Safety Campaign and giving away free packs to parents who want to keep their homes safe for their children. Since 2004, RoSPA has called upon the blind industry to take action to reduce the risk of looped cords and this pack is going to help any parent help prevent accidents in their home.

At the moment RoSPA is hoping that there will be a voluntary agreement among manufacturers and retailers to end looped blind cords forever. If you happen to have a blind with a looped cord then it is essential that it is fitted with a safety device to protect your children.

Research has shown that the most accidental deaths involving blind cords happen in the bedroom and occur in children between 16-36 months. Toddlers can be strangled quickly and quietly by looped cords so let’s prevent this now!

RoSPA are giving away a free Make it Safe pack which includes an advice leaflet, a blind cord cleat with fixing instructions, and a warning triangle so you know what to look for when buying new blinds. Just click on the Apply for Free Pack button on the site.
