I don't miss the little baby days one bit, I'm not a natural Earth Mother at all, but I do miss musing over all the lovely baby clothes - teenage and grown-up clothes, £120 prom dresses (daughter) and expensive suits for travelling too and from barracks in (eldest son) aren't anywhere near as much 'fun'.

One of the first things you learn as a new parent is how tricksy keeping your baby at a comfortable temperature can be - 37C body temperature is what we all strive/strove for to get top marks.

These My 1st Years Sheepskin Booties (£30) are just too cute for words! I am totally in love with them. At least with the look of them, as I haven't seen or used a pair. But they look perfect for giving as a special gift. I know from when my son was a newborn that so many of the little gifts you get might seem like a great idea for the person giving them, but are totally impractical for parents.

The only way to know for sure is to try them out, or at least read about someone else's experience! So I gave a pair to PlayPennies mum of one, Erica.

I have to admit I am a huge fan of sheepskin booties or slippers for babys. I bought back a pair for my son from NZ when he was two months old. He didn't get to wear them until he was 8 months old though as it was a stinking hot summer here in the UK! But winter was really cold, and it was lovely to know that his feet were always toasty warm even when we were out.

"The velcro is really easy to open, as you would expect, and they were really easy to slip on to baby's feet."

Erica's final verdict? "At £30, the sheepskin booties are a bit pricey to be buying for your own child, but that is the kind of amount I would spend on a baby gift for a friend, and something like these would be lovely."

I have a thing for sleepsuits - not enough that I want a full-size adult version - but little babies all poppered up and cosy in a soft sleepsuit in the winter is just scrummy.

They can be expensive though and you'll need a fair few of them, to allow for various leakages out of various orrifices when they're small.

So when deals like these came up I always took advantage of them, sometimes buying sleepsuits in the next sizes up if I had enough of the current size.

Her name is April Rose - how pretty is THAT! And she's very pretty too, but maybe I just have a family bias.

Baby clothes are almost irrestible and even though my eldest will turn 16 in a few weeks and the baby, at four, isn't the baby any more, I still can't help but stop and look at tiny tot clothes when I'm out an about.

So now I have a valid excuse to REALLY look and buy a few bits and pieces, I feel a bit like a kiddy in a sweet shop.

There may not be anything cuter than a little dude in a pair of dungarees. I don't know precisely when kids become too old for dungarees but there is something insanely sweet about them on babies and toddlers.

A charming example of Blue Zoo's collection of great value outfits for baby boys, this blue lion dungaree set combines classic dungarees with splashes of red and blue stitching and a funky little blue and white top. As well as a cute lion patch on the front, these dungarees feature popper fastening for easier nappy changes. I LOVE that about these dungarees. Popper fastenings are massively underrated. When you're changing upwards of 6 nappies a day you too will come to love threads that don't have to be entirely removed every time nature calls. Poppers rock; enough said.
