I've always found hopping for clothes in Marks and Spencer a strange experience: there's always LOTS of lovely things for kids - trendy and stylish and always good quality, but their clothes for adult women can be really hit and miss! I always see plenty of rather nice looking clothes for men though, it just seems that the women's department is stuck in the frump ages - although, you can't beat their bras and knickers.

This year's kid's clothes offerings are no exception (in fact, they've been consistent for the last 18 years - I always loved buying clothes for my children in M&S) and there's plenty for kids of all ages and both genders, from babies right through to teens, and includes coats too (buy at least a size bigger than you need and it might, if you're lucky, last you two winters).

Marks and Spencer are also offering free UK standard delivery; they say it's for a limited time only, but I can't find anywhere to say exactly when they're going to stop it.  You don't have to enter any codes to get it, it'll automatically be deducted from your order total when you check out.

I honestly have no idea why, but there is something absolutely gorgeous about a baby or toddler with ruffles on their buttocks. I've seen tights with ruffles, and I've seen trousers with ruffles, and it's just so cute. When my baby was just a newborn, I came across RuffleButts and I absolutely had to have some! We now have five of them in various shades and colours and we adore them.

RuffleButts are basically nappy covers, and because my baby is in cloth nappies, we've always gone for bigger sizes. My toddler can wear them over disposable nappies, gNappies, or over panties and my baby can wear them over her cloth nappies, so size wise they're perfect for long term wear and very generous - which is a good thing as we've paid from £8 to £16 each. They are made from a lovely, soft material - some are "woven" and some are "stretchy". They are 100% cotton and are wrinkle-resistant.

I really hate the look of disposable nappies, so whenever my toddler is in them, I pop a RuffleButts bloomer over it. This is particularly useful in the summer as she wears dresses and skirts a lot. In the winter, however, you can put tights under the RuffleButts - they also do matching trousers and leggings, but you can use anything really. They do look so sweet.

RuffleButts are from the US and the range available there is amazing, but there aren't as many available in the UK - but still enough to swoon over and keep adding to the collection!

Mothercare has a range of long sleeved boys tops, with patters such as cars, trucks and animals, all for £2.50 each. These are quite good quality tops, with a reasonably thick material. My son had a few of them when he was a toddler, and I can definitely say they wear well, and keep their colours.

These little Hippo romper suits, with hat, are just about the cutest thing I've seen this week. They're availabe in tiny baby, early baby and newborn baby sizes. Just the thing if you've had an arrival yourself, or are looking for a gift for one. Tesco has reduced the price of these romper suits by a little more than half price. They were £9 and now they're £4. Delivery is free if you can arrange for collection in a store. Which is preferable unless this is part of a bigger shop, as standard delivery is £3.95 - nearly the same again as the romper suits!

With babies born at this time of the year (as my son was) I remember you just can't have enough of these little short sleeved, shorty romper suits. And the best thing about newborns is that you put something on them like  a hat and they're not as capable of getting it off (they will though!).

The year my son was born we had a MASSIVE heatwave. It was in the mid to high 30s every day. I don't miss the little baby days one bit, I'm not a natural Earth Mother at all, but I do miss musing over all the lovely baby clothes - teenage and grown-up clothes, £120 prom dresses (daughter) and expensive suits for travelling too and from barracks in (eldest son) aren't anywhere near as much 'fun'.
