Huggies Little Swimmers My First Swim Kit £3 @ ASDA

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 8 January, 2012 at 4:00 pm

Huggies Little Swimmers My First Swim Kit £3 @ ASDA

The Huggies Little Swimmers My First Swim Kit set is down to only £3 at ASDA and comes with quite a few little bits and pieces to make your little one swimming pool ready.

The Huggies Little Swimmers My First Swim Kit comes with six special swim nappies from Huggies which don’t swell up in the water like normal nappies would! You also get your very own 100% cotton hooded towel to wrap up your little one after their very first swim.

The Huggies Little Swimmers kit is the perfect way to start swimming with your baby without having to worry about embarrassing leaks or issues. I used these when my daughter was a baby and she absolutely loved them. Well, she was too young to care but I appreciated the fact that they were easy to use and that they didn’t puff up like a super absorbent balloon.

Toy Story Inline Scooter £10 @ ASDA

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 10 December, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Toy Story Inline Scooter £10 @ ASDA

ASDA have a Toy Story Inline Scooter for sale at £10. I’m not sure if that’s the usual price or not, but our HUKD folk seem to think it’s a great deal.  Delivery is £2.95 for the standard service, or you can collect in store for free.

I’m not crazy about parent-handle free things with wheels – but that’s cause I’m mum to a two-year old, and kids seem to be made of bounce-back-rubber! I see so many kids heading to school on these things as they glide past our house with mums and dads practically jogging along, that it must be good for the whole family, right?

The Toy Story Inline Scooter features an easy-grip handle and good-grip foot plate. It folds up easily for storage, which I imagine makes it easier when you end up having to carry it, which I’m sure inevitably happens.

This scooter is also height adjustable to suit your growing child – it goes from 61cm to 87cm and I’m sure would be loved by any Toy Story fan.

Glitter Fairies Gift Set Under £2 @ ASDA

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 29 November, 2011 at 6:00 pm

Glitter Fairies Gift Set Under £2 @ ASDA

Now this is a lovely deal from ASDA that would make an equally lovely stocking filler this Christmas. The Glitter Fairies gift set is down from the usual price of £5.99 to only £2.99 but if you get these in conjunction with their current 3 for 2 offer, the price drops down to under £2 per Christmas gift.

Each of these Glitter Fairies gift sets includes two lip glosses and two nail polishes. They are themed to the Sweet Treats theme and the packaging is designed to look like a food stall. The bottles are also shaped like flowers and look rather adorable.

I am not an advocate of kids using make-up of any kind actually so I am not sure I approve of these sets. However, I have allowed my daughter to wear nail polish so I reckon I am being a bit of a hypocrite here!

If you are on the prowl for cheap and cheerful Christmas gifts or stocking fillers, then this set at half price and in conjunction with the 3 for 2 deal is a winner.

Lego Star Wars T-6 Jedi Shuttle £29.99 @ ASDA Direct

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 22 November, 2011 at 4:00 pm

Lego Star Wars T-6 Jedi Shuttle £29.99 @ ASDA Direct

ASDA Direct has marked the Lego Star Wars T-6 Jedi Shuttle kit down from £46.47 to only £29.99 which is a saving of £16.48 off the usual price. This would make an excellent Christmas gift for any little Lego (and Star Wars) fan.

The story so far…

The Jedi have been ambushed by bounty hunters while racing to a distant Clone Wars battlefield in their T-6 shuttle. Fortunately their Lego Jedi shuttle is armed with flick missiles and a rotating wing for flying mode and the detachable cockpit can turn into an escape pod if things get a bit too hairy.

This Lego Jedi shuttle is more than a match for those pesky bounty hunters, much less the powerful jedi nestled within its cool Lego shell.

This Lego Star Wars T-6 Jedi shuttle is a lovely Christmas gift at one third the usual price and well worth looking into for any young Lego fans.

The Take Along Tool cart acts as a portable work bench and then folds up into a rolling case. It comes with drill that has a forward and reverse function and lights up. The Take Along Tool Car has all the tools any kid needs to complete the essential jobs around the home.

I have already snapped this up for my nephew as he will utterly love it.

Traditional Wooden Dolls House £35 @ Asda

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 5 November, 2011 at 11:00 am

Traditional Wooden Dolls House £35 @ Asda

There’s £25 off the Traditional Wooden Dolls House at Asda, reducing it from £60 to £35. Standard delivery is a very reasonable £2.95, but you can have it delivered free to your local store.

I always seem to be writing about wooden dolls houses and think I might actually just have to buy one at some point.  I can imagine this under the tree come Christmas morning, and think my little girl would love a house full of people and things to play with.

The Wooden Dolls House is a 3 floor house with 5 rooms, a staircase, windows, doors and a lift-top roof.  You can open the front of the house to get inside.

The house does not come assembled, so you’ll have to do that yourself, and while the customer reviews loved it and most thought it was good quality, a few of our HUKD members didn’t think it was at all. Also, there’s some uncertainty about what’s included. Some commenters say that it didn’t include people as in the picture. You can buy accessories for the house, and the furniture pack and garden furniture pack are currently less than half price at £12 too.

Awesome Chocolate Christmas Deals @ ASDA

Awesome Chocolate Christmas Deals @ ASDA

ASDA appears to be on a mission to fatten me up. Yes. How can they so callously reduce the price of chocolates and expect me to have the self discipline not to buy them? They have marked down tins of Roses, Quality Street, Cadbury Heroes and more to only £4.

Click here to get chocolaty with ASDA

The ASDA tins of chocolates are the large celebration ones and they are all half price in this sale. As well as the Cadbury Heroes Tin (800g), the Cadbury Roses Tin (850g), the Quality Street Tin (1kg) you will also find the Celebrations Tub (855g) and the Basset Liquorice Allsorts (800g) bag.

Other items that may catch your chocolate loving fancy include Thornton’s Moments which I love and wish I could say no to. These tubs of chocolate will make lovely additions to the Christmas home as well as Christmas gifts for work colleagues and friends. Sweet little token presents.

So, go and have a look at what ASDA has on offer in their £4 chocolate sale and indulge!

Wooden Play Kitchen £40 @ ASDA

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 19 October, 2011 at 3:00 pm

Wooden Play Kitchen £40 @ ASDA

Oooh, this is a lovely deal and many of the people I’ve spoken to who’ve bought this toy say it is utterly fabulous. You get this lush wooden play kitchen for £40 instead of the usual £80 at ASDA, what a save!

The wooden play kitchen comes with a microwave, oven, sink, preparation area and storage space and the hub controls turn and click just like a real oven. We used to have a plastic pretend kitchen which we (sadly) had to get rid of for space reasons and my daughter loved it.

The fact that this play kitchen is made from wood is a really good thing. Wooden toys are really so much better quality and are more durable, and they always tend to look really good. I love the little green handle on the oven door and the sweet little sink and vegetable storage area.

While £40 is hardly a minor spend, this kitchen is good value at that price. What do you think?

Traditional Wooden Doll House £30 @ ASDA

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 9 October, 2011 at 4:00 pm

Traditional Wooden Doll House £30 @ ASDA

This is another utterly lovely Christmas gift in the making that has been marked down from £60 to only £30 at ASDA and will make one little girl utterly ecstatic. The house is really quite beautiful looking on the outside and is one I could quite happily live in, in the real world. Although probably not quite so pink…

The wooden doll house comes with three floors of rooms and offers up hours of lovely imaginative play for kids. Intricately designed with a staircase, detailed windows, doors and a roof this house wood sell for loads on the current property market (hahah).

You don’t get much else with the house I don’t think though. The interior is pretty well made with the roof hinged to the main body of the house for easy open and close access. However, the site says that furniture packs are available separately which means you’ll probably have to spend more if you want to kit it out.

Huggies Super Dry Big Pack x 2 £15 @ Asda

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 9 October, 2011 at 9:00 am

Huggies Super Dry Big Pack x 2 £15 @ AsdaAsda are selling Huggies Super Dry big packs for as little as £9 each, and I've been able to find them for this price at Tesco, and slightly cheaper at Amazon. However, you can get 2 packs for £15 in the multi-buy offer, and I haven't been able to find this cheaper anywhere. It works out to (for say the Huggies Super Dry 76 big pack size 4) just 10p per nappy.

I couldn't find an option to collect in-store. Home delivery charges start at £3, depending on what times you opt for. Keep in mind that there's a minimum spend for home delivery of £25. Also, don't book a slot too far in advance, as you're charged whatever the price is on the day, not at the time you place your order.

If you shop at Asda, it might be worth going into the store to see what they've got on the shelves. As for buying four boxes, well I remember what it was like when son was still in nappies, and it doesn't take long to get through that many!

Play and Learn 26 Piece Wooden Blocks £3 @ ASDA

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 8 October, 2011 at 11:00 am

Play and Learn 26 Piece Wooden Blocks £3 @ ASDA

ASDA has a great price on a 26 piece wooden block set, which they’re selling for £3. It doesn’t actually seem to be reduced at all, but £3 still seems like a fantastic price for such traditional childhood blocks to me.

I’m quite surprised by these blocks as they strike me as being very similar to what I would have had as a child, although I’d be suspicious of the quality – which is why having a review system on a website, is so useful. People who’ve bought this set are surprised by the price, especially in relation to the quality, and without fail their children have liked it.

The ASDA Play  and Learn A – Z Wooden Blocks are made from 100% ethically sourced wood and according to the website, it comes with FSC approval. Whatever that means, it sure sounds good. The sale of this product also supports the Tommy’s charity.

Each block contains two letters of the alphabet in bright colours, and four pictures carved out of the wood of items beginning with those letters.

All in all, not a bad little gift for a little person.

Clothing Sale George @ ASDA

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 20 September, 2011 at 4:00 pm

Clothing Sale George @ ASDA

Well, looky here. ASDA’s George range of clothing is about to hit a nice little sale, just in time for Christmas and the cold winter months. It is a perfect time to nab some little extras and accessories for summer next year, and as cute little gifts.

The items on sale include quite a few different styles and some of them are branded items at silly low prices. Awesome. I found some truly cute Winnie the Pooh pyjamas as well as fancy dress costumes (which would come in handy for Halloween), and clothing categorised for older girls and boys, shoes, younger girls and boys, and characters.

I am strangely bemused by the fact that you can buy Zhu Zhu pets clothing. I didn’t think they were still such a big deal, are they? I mean, I know they have enormous ranges now that include babies and puppies, but nobody I know seems that interested in them anymore.

Anyway, take a look around and enjoy the sale. Items are going for as little as £2 for a pair of jeans. Nice.

Pampers Sensitive Wipes 9 Packs £3.50 @ ASDA

Pampers Sensitive Wipes 9 Packs £3.50 @ ASDA

Ooh, this is an absolutely genius deal for those of you who stock up on wipes for their kids. ASDA is selling a pack of nine packets of wipes for a mere £9. That’s right, nine packs of Pampers Sensitive wipes for a mere sniffle of a price.

The box of nine packs of wipes gets you a total of 504 wipes for only £3.50. You can order them online or you can get them instore and if you buy them in bulk you’ll be saving a ton of cash. It works out to only 39p per pack which is utterly brilliant.

I cannot link to the pack directly but rather to the special offers in Baby & Toddler page, but you’ll see them there with the heading of Wow! Easy enough to find I think. You can also get some other deals like the Cow & Gate growing up milk, Pampers nappies and even some Tommee Tippee items for below £10.

Bright Starts Lion In The Park Baby Gym £16 @ ASDA

This is a totally cute little deal and utterly brilliant for a mum to be or one that has a freshly made baby on her hands. ASDA has marked the Bright Starts Lion in the Park baby gym down from £29.98 to only £16 as a part of their Baby Event.

The ASDA Baby Event appears to be steaming ahead with great enthusiasm at the moment and I am utterly smitten with the deals that are popping up. This is one of them. The Bright Start Lion in the Park baby gym is usually very expensive and this price knocks it straight into the Awesome Savings category.

The large, quilted play area is smothered in gorgeous pictures of a baby lion and his friends. There is an easy to reach plus ladybug pull toy that plays four melodies, four other toys hang from the soft toy bar, a baby-safe mirror for self-discovery, a colourful bead rattle and a spiralling bead chase, plus a bee-shaped water-filled teether.

Two For £2.50 @ ASDA Baby Event

I do love the fact that the big stores are holding these regular baby sales that offer up lots of lovely goodies at awesome prices. It just makes shopping for little ones that much more satisfying. At the moment ASDA has a Baby Event going full steam ahead and one of their offers is a the 2 for £2.50 deal that includes a large number of useful products.

The range of products included in the ASDA 2 for £2.50 special offer is their Little Angels toiletries range. You can choose from baby bath, baby lotion, baby oil, baby powder, bedtime wash, conditioner, shampoo, cotton wipes, Eco Baby products and more.

This is an awesome moment to snatch up some essentials for the bath and bedroom. Or you can whip up a seriously impressive present for an expectant mum using only a tenner and some clever choices. Imagine getting a gift basket packed with things you didn’t know you needed as a first time mum? Genius.

Click here to use your Asda George promotional code

  • Discount: free delivery
  • Applies to: uniform
  • Promotional code: SCHOOL2
  • Expires: 2nd September 2011

To use the code, go to the Basket and enter it in the Promotional Code box. Delivery is confirmed when you go through checkout.

I thought it would be quite hard to test this one out actually, as the prices are so reasonable and I only have the one school age child. But having learnt my lesson starting last year with two pairs of trousers I know that at least four pairs are really required. Especially if the weather makes drying outdoors impossible. The house looks permanently like a laundry otherwise.

I picked up four pairs of his favourite style of trouser - the cargo pants. These were £5 each, which isn't a bad price.

Save Money On Back To School

by Tamsin Oxford in Features on 11 August, 2011 at 1:00 pm

Well, folks, it’s that time of the year again and we’re all looking at spending some hard earned cash on items the kids need for school. The holidays are almost halfway done so now is the perfect time to look into sorting out supplies and getting everything ready.

You don’t need to spend a fortune on clothes and extras though, there are plenty of ways you can save money on the back to school essentials without cutting important corners. I’ve gone out and unearthed some of the best deals on schooliforms, stationery, accessories and more so you can save some cash.

The Schooliform

Save Money On Back To School

I did steal that name for school uniform from Charlie & Lola but can you blame me? It is so darn brilliant that our entire family has been using it for years.  Now, down to business…

Thanks to supermarkets hitting the uniform creation game, they are all in these lovely price wars to ensure that they get your much needed money. This means that the cost of many essential items has gone way, way down and you can nab things for a fraction of what they used to cost.

Tesco has a £15 back to school bundle deal on at the moment – hurry, though, the offer ends on 14 August. You’ll get a coat, trousers, skirts or pinafore plus a three pack of polos or shirts for the lovely price of £15. You can also find cheap school shoes here, although I tend to spend on shoes while saving on clothes. Feet are important.

Debenhams have a 20% discount on selected back to school items with some uniforms down to £3 with free delivery. You may need to poke around on the site to find the real savers, but it is worth it. This is a good place to visit when you need one or two items you haven’t found elsewhere.

Sainsburys school uniforms start from as little as £2 an item, which is really, really cheap. This is where you can stock up on items that can get scuffed or crushed or smooshed. And they will deliver if you don’t fancy battling with other mums and dads in the queue.

ASDA’s George range is being heavily advertised on TV and it makes me laugh every time. Teflon coated trousers! In case of emergency you could always cook on them I guess. Still, in spite of the Teflon, the range is cheap and even comes with a guarantee (that lasts about as long as the school year funnily enough…) And M&S have free delivery on their uniforms if you enter the code (wait for it…) UNIFORMS at the checkout. They also have many items from as little as £1.50 so take the time to take a look.

The Stationery

Save Money On Back To School

You really do not need to spend much money on school stationery. You don’t. The first stop is Poundland where you can get so much stuff for so little money that there is really no reason to splash out on fancy pens and pencils and their accompanying bits and pieces. We have done quite a few reviews on their back to school goodies so check them out first.

While you won’t find these online, Sainsburys currently has a BOGOF deal going on their stationery for back to school so take a look the next time you’re doing your weekly shop.  Tesco is offering selected items at half price instore as well, with the stationery varying from store to store. It is worth a visit instore, or perhaps some time spent online poking through the sale to get things like erasers and sharpners et al.

Woolworths is another great stop for stationery deals but not necessarily for school uniforms. I’ve found that their occasional bundle deals are excellent but the individual costs of items are quite high compared with the other deals we have seen on here.

Other ideas

Save Money On Back To School

Use deal sites like our lovely sister site, HotUKDeals, to find the latest bargains on items you need - and us too, obviously, as we are constantly hunting for awesome discounts and deals. It is slow going but you’ll soon get addicted to getting the best prices around. Family Action is an organisation that is dedicated to helping families through tough times and they even give grants to families to help them with education and other similar needs.

Make sure that you label all your child’s clothes. It is tedious, I know, but that way things will be found so you’re not spending money on replacing perfectly good clothing. You can also check out local charity shops for items that can bulk up your child’s school wardrobe although first see if you can get new for cheaper using the ideas above.

Raise Money For Charity With 75p Peppa Pig Stickers @ ASDA

Raise Money For Charity With 75p Peppa Pig Stickers @ ASDA

ASDA has teamed up with Peppa Pig in an attempt to raise money for pregnancy research. Throughout July and August, Peppa Pig fans can buy exclusive Peppa Pig stickers for 75p instore and all the proceeds are going to Tommy’s.

From 18 July to 29 August ASDA will be selling the exclusive Peppa Pig stickers so that they can help Tommy’s in their mission to give babies the best possible start in life. The chain is hoping to raise £150k for the charity this year (that’s a LOT of stickers) so why not join in and nab a pack for your tots and help out.

The charity Tommy’s is there to help women to conceive, to make many people’s dreams of children come true. They fund internationally renowned research into pregnancy problems and they provide free information about pregnancy health to parents-to-be.

In the UK, every day, around 290 women experience a miscarriage and approximately 10 babies are still born. Every day. It is heartbreaking. This is an ace cause and will make other people, as well as your sticker mad tot, very happy.
