Create Your Own £3 @ Asda

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 23 May, 2012 at 7:00 pm

Create Your Own £3 @ Asda

There are three sets of ‘Create Your Own’ craft kits available at Asda, reduced from £4.97 to £3.

I really am not very crafty with my toddler, but she loves it, so I do try. Thing is, I’m not crazy about mess, and because we don’t have dedicated craft storage, finding everything is always such a pain that I lose the will to live while trying to set up for craft time.

Which is why I love kits like this. It all comes pretty much ready made, and you just have to add bits, like glue, I guess.

The sets come with all sorts.  The Vehicles set, for example, comes with a die cut big red bus to make and decorate with felt wheels, buttons and stickers. The Fashion Keyring set has clip on charms, colourful shaped beads and 2 fashion key rings, and the Sea Creatures set comes with bright stickers, sparkly, stripy and fluffy pipe cleaners – plenty to keep you busy for a fun craft time, I’m sure!

Standard delivery is £2.95, and there’s a free click and collect option too.

Red Kite Zoo Walker £15 @ ASDA

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 15 May, 2012 at 6:00 pm

Red Kite Zoo Walker £15 @ ASDA

ASDA has reduced the price on the Red Kite Zoo Walker to £15 as a part of the ASDA Baby Event. It can be collected instore if you don’t want to pay for the delivery charges which are, I find, rather high.

The Red Kite Zoo Walker is brightly coloured and perfect for little feet. It has an activity bar with interactive toys that offer hours of fun for busy little hands and give parents a chance to breeeeathe. The activity bar can also be removed so you can use the tray to feed them or to do other activities together.

The walker itself has three adjustable heights and comes with a stop and go base for extra security, particularly helpful if you have a speedy and inquisitive child. The deep padded seat adds extra comfort and the entire kit is suitable for children aged six months to 12 kgs. Looks good for the price I think!

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 15 May, 2012 at 4:00 pm

Baby Wipes Only £1 @ ASDA

This is a fabulous deal for parents who need to stock up on cheap baby wipes. ASDA is selling a wide range of baby wipes for only £1 per packet. How very kind of them…

The low cost baby wipes that are on sale for £1 at ASDA are for only two brands – Huggies and Pampers. In the Huggies corner we have the Huggies Soft Skin range which are enriched with Shea Butter and on sale for £1. There is also the Huggies Natural Care wipes which are enriched with Aloe Vera and Vitamin E for £1.

And finally, in the Huggies arena, there are the Huggies Pure Wipes which are perfect for newborns and are both alcohol and perfume free. I really rate those actually, even if they are tough to get out of the packet.

The Pampers discount baby wipes are the Pampers Sensitive and the Pampers Baby Wipes. The latter are made with pure water and the former are all about pH and gentle cleansing. All at a very tasty £1.

Bright Starts Bounce Bounce Baby £27 @ Asda

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 13 May, 2012 at 8:00 am

Bright Starts Bounce Bounce Baby £27 @ Asda

The Bright Starts Bounce Bounce Baby bouncer is on sale at Asda for £27. It’s RRP is £59.99 and it’s on offer at Amazon for £41.99, so this really is a very good price even with the £2.95 delivery fee (although you can collect at any Asda store for free.)

As with most activity goodies for babies, this one has loads going on with it. It has three heights for the adjustable platform, allowing it to grow with the baby.

There’s a variety of toys, including a giraffe bead chaser, a lion with a tree mirror, and a spinning monkey panel with beads. There’s a ratcheting sun that turns 360 degrees and a bendy leaf stalk. They’ve added additional link loops for attaching baby’s favourite toys and the built in toy tray is easy to clean.  The seat spins a full 360 degrees for full access to the toys.

The Bounce Bounce Baby bouncer also has a triangular ‘space saving design’.

The reviews are pretty fantastic, and everyone has great things to say about it.

Pampers Active Fit Jumbo Packs 2 For £20 @ ASDA

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 11 May, 2012 at 4:00 pm

Pampers Active Fit Jumbo Packs 2 For £20 @ ASDA

At the moment there are a few different Pampers deals on at ASDA and they seem to change on a regular basis. This particular deal is available online, although you can get some different deals instore, and gets you two boxes of Pampers Active Fit with 84 nappies per box at £20. The usual price for one is £12 so you are saving £4.

This deal drops the price on a ton of nappies quite nicely, and it means you can stock up for ages so you don’t run out at an awkward moment. Although, I always ran out when I really shouldn’t have! Typical.

The nappies and wipes on the link above are all at fairly normal prices but stay tuned because sometimes they have an offer on the site but add the disclaimer that they will change your basket price to match the instore price. This can work both ways but it is worth keeping an eye on.

Dora The Explorer Duvet Set £5 @ ASDA

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 4 May, 2012 at 6:00 pm

Dora The Explorer Duvet Set £5 @ ASDA

ASDA has reduced the price of the Dora the Explorer Junior duvet set from £11 to £5, and you get a tasty saving of £6. You can either use some of that saving to pay for delivery, which is very high from ASDA, or you can arrange to collect it instore for free.

The Junior Dora the Explorer duvet set is made from 100% polyester and is easy to clean and care for as it can be machine washed and probably tumble dried as well. It’s very cute actually, with bright pink backing and lots of Dora images gambolling across the top.

The set includes a duvet cover and a pillowcase only and does not include the pillow or duvet themselves. My daughter never got into Dora the Explorer but I have heard quite a few kids rave about her and the series. I guess this would make quite a sweet gift for a little fan, or just as something useful to stock up the linen cupboard.

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 29 April, 2012 at 11:00 am

Huggies Newborn Nappies Size 2 Big Pack £8 @ AsdaThe Asda baby event is in full swing. Which is a good time to stock up on stuff like these Huggies Newborn Nappies. Both the Huggies Newborn Nappies Size 2 big pack (92 nappies) and the Huggies Newborn Nappies Size 1 (81 nappies) are both £8. For the Size 2 pack that works out to 8p a nappy, which isn't a bad price and cheaper than some supermarket own brands.

There's another offer on the Asda Baby Event too. The Huggies Newborn Starter Kit has been reduced to £3, and has 27 nappies along with three packs of newborn baby wipes. Three packs of these will get you 81 nappies too plus three packs of baby wipes, for a quid extra. However, I'm not so sure you need the baby wipes?  For a newborn? I didn't need to use anything other than a bit of water and cotton wool. What's the experience of other readers?

Standard delivery is £2.95, however you can collect in store for free.

Huggies Newborn - award winning nappies for the ultimate in softness for your precious little one. Huggies understands that you want the very best for your newborn's delicate skin. Chicco Baby Control Video Digital Monitor £50 @ ASDA

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 25 April, 2012 at 6:00 pm

Chicco Baby Control Video Digital Monitor £50 @ ASDA

The Chicco Baby Control video digital monitor is down from £65 to £50 at ASDA as part of their Baby Event that is running right now. You are saving £15 on this rather cool and nifty looking baby monitor that seems to have quite a few great bells and whistles.

The Chicco Baby Control Video Digital Monitor is a wireless video monitoring system that allows you to remain in constant contact with your baby. It has a night light, luminous LEDs that indicate noise level, a two inch screen and an IR video camera which works in the dark.

You can adjust the camera to focus it more accurately and both devices can run on either battery or mains. The maximum range is 150m and you also get a display with the date and time, an alarm function, and voice activation features. This is an impressive baby monitor for this price and appears to be getting excellent reviews from other customers.

Bright Starts Briarcliff Portable Swing £55 @ ASDA

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 23 April, 2012 at 3:00 pm

Bright Starts Briarcliff Portable Swing £55 @ ASDA

The Bright Starts Briarcliff portable swing is down in price as part of the ASDA Baby Event that’s running at the moment. If you fancy paying just £55 for this cute little device, then you’ll need to arrange to collect it instore, otherwise you’re looking at an extra few bob for delivery charges.

The Bright Starts Briarcliff portable swing apparently has the patented KidsII hybridrive technology incorporated. That name sounds like something that should be on a starship, not a baby swing, but anyway…

This hybridrive delivers an energy efficient and quiet ride for baby and the TrueSpeed technology (hahahah) maintains five speeds as baby grows. This swing will apparently deliver more than three times the battery life of comparable swings, which is not bad thing.

The head support can be removed, as can the toys, for comfort and washing. There are six melodies and nature sounds with volume control and auto shut off after 30 minutes. The swing time has three settings and it has WhisperQuiet to keep the sound down.

Animal And Cuddle Cushions £5 @ Asda

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 21 April, 2012 at 3:00 pm

Animal And Cuddle Cushions £5 @ AsdaNow these will make a great gift! Spotted them today, and am off to a toddler's birthday party this week so the timing is great. Asda has these really cutely named Cuddle Cushions available for £5 each, plus these two Animal Cushions marked down from £6 to £5. They are the Fluffy Poodle cuddle cushion, and the Cheeky Monkey cuddle cushion.

You can collect these for free instore. Otherwise standard delivery within two to five days is £2.95.

The Cuddle Cushions are cute animal character cushions that are made from super soft material. When folded the cushions are like the animal character, then when unfolded, make a great cushion or pillow to use whilst camping or out and about. With cute ladybird, dog and cow designs, this will be a hit for all ages.

The two Animal Cushions work in the same way, so I'm not sure what the difference might be. There's no dimensions given for these cushions on the website. For the Animal cushions, it does say that they're not machine washable, and that you have to hand wash only and air dry. That might be worth taking into consideration if you're considering to use one of these for nap times when out and about.

I did something similar following advice from family. I had a favourite blanket (others have used sheepskins) so that no matter where we were, baby had something familiar to associate with naptime.

A small blanket you can throw in the wash is one thing, especially when baby is teething, so prone to dribble, or has might still posset a little bit. I think I'd get two of these if that was the case.

Huggies Newborn Starter Kit £3 @ ASDA

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 20 April, 2012 at 3:00 pm

Huggies Newborn Starter Kit £3 @ ASDA

ASDA has reduced the price of the Huggies Newborn Starter Kit as part of their lovely Baby Event deals. You now pay only £3 for this entire kit instead of the usual price of £5.47. You are saving £2.47 which isn’t a ton of cash, but is definitely a fair amount for those of us counting the pennies!

The Huggies Newborn Starter Kit includes quite a few bits and pieces, more than enough to get those first time parents sorted out and ready to go with the latest addition to their family. You will have to pay delivery charges if you don’t arrange to collect yours instore.

Included in the Huggies Newborn Starter Kit is a bunch of newborn nappies which are suitable from birth. It looks like there are 27 of these included in the kit, not bad at all! You also get Huggies Pure Wipes which are gentle cleaning wipes that are similar to cotton wool and water, plus you’ll get a hat and a bunch of coupons and discounts for you to use at a later date.

There’s not a huge amount I can say about these – apart from the fact that they’ll make a lovely addition to summer time, not hurt by the fab price!  My daughter loves her wellington boots, and I have to say I love them too, because she can put them on and take them off by herself! Fabulous.

You can drop by your local store and see what they have on offer, or you can order these online and have them delivered to said store free of charge.

Pumpaloons £7.50 @ Asda

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 17 March, 2012 at 6:00 pm

Pumpaloons £7.50 @ AsdaPumpaloons. I've seen them advertised on TV. I've seen them in real life.  And I still don't get them. But still little ones seem to get them just fine, and I guess that's the point. The usual RRP for these is £19.99. Asda has had them on sale for £10, and now they're down to £7.50. Delivery is free if you can collect instore. Otherwise it is £2.95 for home delivery.

The game works like this. Two children race to pump up a pair of fun inflatable characters which bob and weave as they slowly rise up. The first Pumpaloon to sound its whistle wins. The game is recommended for ages four and upwards.

Sounds pretty simple, but even so most of the reviewers on the site give it a pretty high rating. These are typical of the comments. "Bought this as a fun game to play on Christmas Day with family, but couldn't wait and have had great fun so far with the kids." And this "Brilliant fun and hidden excercise game for kids and adults secretly..."

Not everyone was thrilled with the game. This is a comment on the game found on another site. "Bought this game for my 7 year old grandson for xmas - he and his little brother were quickly bored with the game. Could easily be played with ordinary balloons. Characters didn't even stand up unaided."

Jumbo Kids Shopping Trolley £6 @ ASDA Direct

Jumbo Kids Shopping Trolley £6 @ ASDA Direct

ASDA Direct has reduced the kids Jumbo Shopping Trolley set from £12 down to £6 and you can sort yourself free delivery (sort of) by arranging to collect it instore. This would make a lovely pressie for a kid who loves to go shopping with mum and dad.

The Sweet Girl Jumbo Shopping Trolley is a fun way for your child to pretend that they’re just like their parents on the shopping run. The trolley offers them hours of imaginary play with their friends and the trolley is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use – brilliant.

It comes with 11 pieces of play food that includes items such as Bran Flakes, Early Grey tea, Chocolate Milk, crispy biscuits and even fruit juice cartons. The play shopping trolley is suitable for children over the age of three and is covered in funky colours with sweet designs.

I rather like this toy, you can always pop it in the boot so they can walk next to you while you do the shopping.

Tommee Tippee Closer To Nature Bottles 2 x 150ml £5.16 @ Asda Direct

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 26 February, 2012 at 11:00 am

Tommee Tippee Closer To Nature Bottles 2 x 150ml £5.16 @ Asda DirectAsda has knocked a third off the cost of this bottle two pack. The Tommee TIppee Closer to Nature bottles, 2 x 150ml, have been reduced from £8.49 to £5.16. Standard delivery is £2.95, so if you're going for home delivery make it part of a bigger order for the best value. However, you can collect them instore for free.

According to the manufacturer, what makes the Closer to nature baby feeding bottles different to other baby bottles is that they come with easivent slow teats made from soft silicone which stretches and flexes to mimic a natural breast feeding action.

You get 2 x 150ml Bottles with Slow Flow Teats. 150ml/5 floz bottles with easivent slow flow teats made from soft silicone designed to mimic a natural breast feeding action, and also featuring a super-sensitive anti-colic valve.

Bottle or breast? Although they say you shouldn't mix the two, as baby will go for one and reject the other, I didn't have that problem. I started using a bottle for one feed when he was 2 weeks old, partly because I needed that sleep and partly because my other half wanted to have some of that time to bond with our son too.

Some of my friends did this successfully too, although they were able to use expressed breast milk. No matter what I did, I never seemed to have anything left over! Despite working with the midwife, the breast feeding 'cafe', and a couple of other breastfeeding experts, nothing I did increased milk production. It just seems like sometimes breast don't work. I compromised with 'half and half', half the feeds were breast feeding and half were formula from a bottle.
