Snug Fleeces £3.99 @ Argos

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 3 February, 2012 at 7:00 pm

Snug Fleeces £3.99 @ Argos

Argos has some his (junior) and her ( also junior) snug fleeces with popular Disney branding on offer for a very reasonable £3.99, reduced from £9.99.

I don’t know about you, but I just don’t seem to be able to warm up at the moment. A hot bath works for a while but by the time I’m settled in for the evening, my very bones are cold again.

As these fleeces are for children, they’re not going to help me, but if your little one has the same problem – or constantly kicks off their blankets – these wearable fleeces might be a good solution to your problem.

Apart from the fact that they are 100% polyester, there’s not much information about them, unfortunately, but  there’s one review on each, and they’re both very positive. Apparently the kids love them, so that’s not bad – and at this price they’re fantastic value too.

Argos’ delivery is really expensive for small items at £5.95, so you’d do better to check your local store for stock, and reserve it for collection.

This is a pretty cute little set of racing minis that you can plonk on your desk for super racing fun. Down to only £4.99 for a brand new box of lovely racing cars, this is a fab deal that would fit nicely into any present cupboard for emergencies.

The racing desktop mini set comes with two cars, both are minis (obviously) and one is red while the other is blue. These tiny little charmers race around a track that’s made from 16 interlocking track pieces, also included in the set.

You also get two bridge railings and four bridge supports so you can create a track that offers uphill and downhill racing. There are 12 roadside fences and two starting markets and, of course, the two controllers for the little mini racers themselves. You will need to buy four D batteries to run the track though.

The Usborne Children’s World Atlas £1.99 @ Argos

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 3 February, 2012 at 3:00 pm

The Usborne Children’s World Atlas £1.99 @ Argos

I am frankly astonished by this deal. What a lovely bargain. This Usborne Children’s World Atlas is down from £8.99 to only £1.99 which is not only a whopping saving on the original price but also a really awesome book to have.

The Usborne Children’s World Atlas has internet links littered throughout the book. We bought the encyclopaedia version just after Christmas this year and it is really, really good. Each section comes with a bunch of internet links that show you even more videos, information, pictures and stories about the stuff on the page.

My daughter loves hers, she takes it with her when we go out and tells us all about the things inside it. We’re even learning things here! The book has 60 pages of maps along with introductions to the continents, satellite photography, and lots of facts about the various countries.

The Usborne Children’s World Atlas at this price is a complete and utter steal.

Chad Valley Round Sandpit Frame £13.99 @ Argos

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 30 January, 2012 at 3:00 pm

Chad Valley Round Sandpit Frame £13.99 @ Argos

The Chad Valley round sandpit frame is down from £34.99 to only £13.99 which is a brilliant new price and I wish, wish, wish we had a garden so I could nab this for my offspring. The discount is well below half price for an ace sandpit.

The Chad Valley round sandpit frame has compartments for water or toys scattered around a central sand holding area. There are six identical sections that form the round frame and the entire kit comes with a ground and cover sheet as well.

You also get approximately 30kgs of sand to fill the pit, which is really good value for money here, and the entire sandpit is 141x18cm in size. It is brilliant for little ones to play in on hot summer days and to create all sorts of mess as they wriggle around in the sand.

This is an excellent deal for a really unusual sandpit that I rather like!

The Smurfs Nail Party £3.49 @ Argos

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 28 January, 2012 at 3:00 pm

The Smurfs Nail Party £3.49 @ ArgosI don't know why but I just love the idea of Smurf nails! There's also something really fun about painting your nails when you're a kid. And for many grown ups too, although I have to say I haven't been bothered for years now. I guess it is a personal thing. This The Smurfs Nail Party set is reduced by half price at Argos, from £9.99 to £3.49. You can click and collect instore for free, otherwise delivery is £5.95, so it would be best as part of a bigger order to make that worthwhile.

According to the website you get four nail varnishes and nail stickers. There's no more description than that unfortunately. Which is a bit of a shame but at this price, it is still worth a go as a present or something for the present drawer.

One reviewer on the site complained that the nail varnish peeled easily, which they weren't happy at for the price. However, with the set reduced, it makes it better value for money.

However, as another reviewer comments, giving it three stars out of five, "Not excellent quality nail varnishes but the big chunky bottles, stickers and bright colours are great for little fingers to hold and use so ideal present for children."

Spykee Vox Interactive Robot £32.99 @ Argos

Spykee Vox Interactive Robot £32.99 @ Argos

Argos has reduced the fancy and extremely cool Spykee Vox Interactive Robot to £32.99. It used to cost £99.99 so you are paying a lot less than half price for a very cool toy that kids will absolutely love. And parents too…

Spykee Vox responds to your voice and to around 38 different predefined voice commands. If you give him an order he will obey you and beetle off to do as he is told. Not only that, but Spykee can also receive iPod Nano and iPod touch ranges and is compatible with other MP3 players too.

The Universal IR remote allows Spykee to control your electronic devices when asked and you can either use his pre-programmed features or create your own. You can add movements, emoticons, give him a name and insert new sounds.

He has an alarm clock function and he needs six AA batteries and three AAA batteries none of which are included. Ideal for kids over the age of eight, he is a monster robot gizmo.

Crayola Supertips Sketch And Colour Set £6.99 @ Argos

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 25 January, 2012 at 3:00 pm

Crayola Supertips Sketch And Colour Set £6.99 @ Argos

The Crayola Supertips Sketch and Colour set has been marked down from £13,98 to £6.99 at Argos which is half the original price. The set is packed with all sorts of stuff that will make creative time fun and colourful.

Unleash your child’s creativity with the Crayola Supertips Sketch and Colour set that has a bright rainbow arraw of colour Supertips for creating beautiful pictures. Kids can sketch on the go as the entire set comes in a handy travel case that’s perfect for alleviating boredom on long journeys.

Included in the Crayola kit are 32 Supertips markers and a 40 page sketchbook and the latter looks like it is a decent size too. These colouring pens are actually really good as I’ve used them before and if the lids disappear (as they always do) they tend to carry on going for quite a while. They don’t dry out too easily.

Octonaut Bath Sets £2.99 @ Argos

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 24 January, 2012 at 3:00 pm

Octonaut Bath Sets £2.99 @ Argos

The Octonauts bath sets are down from £4.99 to £2.99 at Argos with two different types to choose from. I got one of these for my daughter this Christmas and have to say that the lower price is really more like it, they are not worth nearly £5.

The undersea exploring Octonauts are on a mission to uncover the mystery of the Great Ghost Reef and you will find either Kwazi and the vampire squid or Captain Barnacles and the octopus in each set.

Each Octonaut has posable arms and legs with a turning head and each sea creature changes colour when it is placed into hot water. The vampire squid goes all spotty and I am not sure what the octopus does. They are quite cute and definitely lots of bath time fun but the lower price is more accurate for what you get.

Now you can get both sets for almost the same price as one.

My First Lego Set £6.99 @ Argos

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 23 January, 2012 at 4:00 pm

My First Lego Set £6.99 @ Argos

Argos has marked this adorable My First Lego set down from £9.99 to £6.99 which is a saving of 25% off the original price. This is a perfect introduction to the wonderful world of Lego building fun and is ideal for tots over the age of four.

The My First Lego set features regular and shaped Lego bricks including windows, a door, a minifugure, wheels, a propeller and a special building plate. Children can follow the instructions to build a house, car, helicopter and plenty more.

These sets are really good for helping children to develop creativity and explore their imaginations, and to teach them how to entertain themselves for a while. Lego is such a family staple nowadays that I am not sure how people survived without it!

Spend some time with your tots, building and creating whole worlds, or let them loose to make their own superb creations.

Motorola MBP30 Multi Cam Digital Baby Monitor £99.99 @ Argos

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 20 January, 2012 at 7:00 pm

Motorola MBP30 Multi Cam Digital Baby Monitor £99.99 @ Argos

On offer at Argos right now is a Motorola MBP30 Multi Cam Digital Baby Monitor, with an RRP of £129.99, now selling at £99.99, with a saving of £30.

We had a video baby monitor once, but it was one of the first incantations of it’s type and didn’t work in a house that had wifi or if you had any neighbours with wifi. The interference was so bad, you’d wake the baby in the adjoining room.  Video baby monitors  have come a way since then, and while I’ve not bothered with a video monitor since, this does seem like quite a nice one, with pretty good reviews too.

It is digital and has 64 channels, so hopefully you won’t be picking up your neighbours baby. It has a range of up to 150m and an out of range indicator on the portable parent unit.

There’s volume control and a 2 way talk back if you want to reassure baby that you’re on your way – especially if you made it 150m out the house baby free!

Additionally, it has a night light so you can make your way around the room without stumbling over toddler toys.  The video screen is 2.4 inches and colour and there’s a low battery indicator – the baby unit requires 3AAA batteries, the first round of which is included and there are mains included too.

Hello Kitty Digital Coin Jar £5.99 @ Argos

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 20 January, 2012 at 4:00 pm

Hello Kitty Digital Coin Jar £5.99 @ Argos

I am faintly horrified that anyone would have spent nearly £20 on a digital coin jar, regardless of the Hello Kitty branding on it. Why do you even need one? However, for £5.99, this is a pretty cool gimmicky gadget and one that would make a great gift.

The Hello Kitty digital coin jar keeps a record of how much pocket money is being saved. It is a good way to help kids learn about managing their money or recognising what the different coins actually look like and what their value is. From that point of view this is a great buy.

Not for £20 though…

Anyway, the Hello Kitty coin jar will need you to add two AAA batteries (use rechargeables and save the planet!) and I think, by looking at the picture, it recognises the coins and adds the amount automatically. Cute and great for pocket money, this is a rather sweet bargain.

1500 Piece Craft Activity Set £12.99 @ Argos

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 20 January, 2012 at 3:00 pm

1500 Piece Craft Activity Set £12.99 @ Argos

This is a great deal from Argos with the 1500 piece craft activity set marked down from £29.99 to only £12.99. That’s less than half price for a ton of cool bits and pieces that you can use to make all sorts of ace things.

The 1500 piece craft activity set is perfect for stimulating young crafters and getting them to explore their creativity. Included in the set are pipe cleaners, pom poms, glitter glue, white glue, foam shapes, tissue paper, mask, confetti stars, straws, feathers, pop sticks, and sequins.

You also get googly eyes, beads and polyballs. The set description says it is suitable for kids over the age of six but I remember crafting with my daughter when she was only three and she loved it! While this is one messy pressie, it is really good for spending quality time together and having lots of fun at the same time.

January Sales Baby Bargains

by Lynley Oram in Features on 19 January, 2012 at 1:00 pm

January Sales Baby BargainsIt is January. You probably already noticed that. Hard to miss it when all the telltale signs are there. Grey skies, dark afternoons and empty bank accounts. Another clue is all the signs up announcing January sales. Although that's not quite as much an indicator as it used to be. Nowadays, the January sales seem to start in December.

However, here we are coming into the tail end of the sales, and anything that is left is going to go bargain basement. Also, there are stores that do GASP start their sales in January, and others that refresh the stock in the sale section each week. Here's a roundup of the big retailers of baby stuff who are still running sales. Boots, for example, have finished their sales so we've not included them here. Likewise, JoJo Maman Bebe still has its sale section, but the winter sale with up to 75% off seems to be finished now.

The same with the Mothercare Clearance shop, although the usual reductions you'll find year round are in there so it is still worth having a look. Such as the 50% Off Top Products section.

Trunki Suitcase And 6 Piece Accessory Pack £44.99 @ Argos

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 16 January, 2012 at 3:00 pm

Trunki Suitcase And 6 Piece Accessory Pack £44.99 @ Argos

For those of you who’ve not yet bought a Trunki, this set may be what you need. For £44.99 you get the Trunki six piece accessory set instead of the usual £99.99. As this is an expensive gadget at the best of times, this price is very reasonable for all these goodies.

The Trunki six piece pack includes Terrance the Trunki, a Trunki holster, a tote bag, a saddle bag, a sticker pack and a wrist purse. Trunki is, you probably already know, the world’s first ride-on suitcase and these extras make it even more fun.

The comfy saddle bags can hold things kids need as they sit and wait in long queues, the tote bag is for those other little extras, the sticker pack will keep them entertained for a while and I have no idea what a Trunki holster is.

I think that the kit is great if you have more than one child and only one Trunki already in hand. That way there are lots of carry extras, enough for two kids. Otherwise I don’t really see the point of so many bags and things, they would just get in the way.

Chad Valley Baby Walker £9.99 @ Argos

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 15 January, 2012 at 9:00 am

Chad Valley Baby Walker £9.99 @ ArgosThe Chad Valley Baby Walker has been reduced at Argos to £9.99, down from £16.99. That's a saving of £7.

In my experience, babies love these walkers. I don't think they're a necessary item. A baby looking to walk will pull themselves up on anything that's too hand, particularly sofas and chairs. But I remember my son with one of these when he was a year old, laughing as he ran with one up and down the living room for absolutely ages.

The Chad Valley Baby Walker is a red and yellow brightly coloured baby walker. According to the manufacturer, it will provide "lots of fun and exciting activities for little ones". Activities on the walker include a shape sorter, a counter and a rattle. It certainly does sound like it is a great toy for when baby has started learning how to walk.

I couldn't see any customer reviews so I'm not sure what the quality of the walker is like. From the photos it doesn't look as solid as the VTech one for example. Those last forever though, so make a good investment if you've a few children or a large family to pass it on to. One thing about these baby walkers is that they're not used for that long!

Little Tikes My First Cozy Coupe Push Along And Ride-On £15.99 @ Argos

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 14 January, 2012 at 11:00 am

Little Tikes My First Cozy Coupe Push Along And Ride-On £15.99 @ Argos

The Little Tikes My First Cozy Coupe Push Along And Ride-On at Argos has been reduced from £29.99 to £15.99, saving you £14.00. The main thing, however, is that this is different to the normal canopied coupe from Little Tikes – this is the infant variety

I’m not sure why Little Tikes haven’t given this version a different name, as it’s pretty confusing, actually, but this is the first time I’ve seen this ride on from them and it seems to be a much smaller one than the regular coupe.

Judging by the reviews it’s really only suitable for very little children, so I’m not sure about it’s shelf life either – perhaps better suited to a children’s play centre or nursery group than once off home-use… unless you really want one!

Suitable from 9 to 36 months (again, read the reviews first) this has a telescoping frame to easily change from push behind walker to foot-to-floor ride-on.  There are parent controlled button safety locks in both modes.

There’s also a hood for extra storage space and free moving steering wheel with squeaker horn. I’m not sure which part of it required 2xAA batteries, but if you want them, they’re included.

Kid Active 14 Inch Girls Bike £32.98 @ Argos eBay Outlet

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 12 January, 2012 at 6:00 pm

Kid Active 14 Inch Girls Bike £32.98 @ Argos eBay Outlet

The Kid Active 14 inch girls bike is on sale at the Argos eBay outlet for £29.99 plus £2.99 delivery charges. This takes it to a very reasonable £32.98 for a lovely, pink girls bike that is ideal for teaching your tots to cycle.

The Kid Active girls bike has a pink steel frame and both front and rear calliper brakes. The frame is 10 inches in size with 14 inch wheels and is suitable for children with an inside leg measurement of 40-50cm. This roughly translates as ideal for kids aged four to six years old.

The stabilisers can be removed once your child has got the hang of that whole balancing thing and the seat is adjustable to match their height. You will need to do some self assembly to fit the front wheel, adjust the brakes, fit the pedals, saddle and handlebars.

Chad Valley Pirate Ship £11.99 @ Argos

Chad Valley Pirate Ship £11.99 @ Argos

Oooh, now this is a very nice discount from Argos. The Chad Valley Pirate Ship is down from £29.99 to £11.99 which is less than half the original price. That is, really, a whopping saving on this toy and it looks pretty darn cool to me.

So, “Arrr” the Chad Valley Pirate Ship is the perfect toy to stimulate lots of imaginative play and creativity in your kids as they go marauding for treasure or defending their ship from other nasty pirate invaders.

The Chad Valley Pirate Ship (arr) comes with three articulated pirate figures – it looks like one of them is designed like Captain Hook with a hook hand – that can be moved about the ship, a treasure box full of lovely loot, and other cool pirate accessories.

This is such a cool toy, I would love to get it for my daughter (she loves pirates) but it is nowhere near her birthday and Christmas was too recent for random gifts. Arr!
