I have a confession. I like Chuggington. I rather enjoy watching it with my daughter, and we’ve been known to have little chats about which character we like the most. I’m not sure why this series has enchanted me, I think it’s the light humour and adult friendly characters that populate each episode. Well, here is a lovely toy from Argos that promises hours of fun at half price – only £19.99.
The set is for children over the age of three and includes die-cast copies of Brewster, Wilson, Koko, Mtambo and an elephant safari car. The engines all have coupling systems so they that don’t detach from each other too. I’m not sure if this kit needs batteries but Argos have stuck up an ad for cheap packs of batteries so I am assuming the answer may be yes.
I rather love the playmat you get too. I wish I’d had stuff like this as a kid! Your Chuggington fans can race their trains all over the place with this brightly coloured map of the area. I can see many happy adventures ahead.

Argos have this great inflatable Sports Pool Arena on sale for £9.99, rather than the rrp of £24.49!
I’m really hoping the sunshine decides to put in an appearance again soon; I’m getting a bit cheesed off with the near-constant cloud cover in my little part of the country.
With the first day of the summer holidays underway, it’s time to start plotting how you’re going to keep the kids amused (if you haven’t already) until they go back to school in September – wow, that sounds like a very long way away! *cry*
I don’t know about you, but I remember the summer holidays as always being hot and sunny and messing around in paddling pools was a big part of it. When I say paddling pools, I mean the standard little round ones – we didn’t have awesome things like Sports Pool Arenas!
This one is very cool and I don’t think there’s a little kiddy in the land who won’t have an absolute blast playing in one; the 47 positive reviews over at Argos would suggest the same!
It has basket ball and ring toss games and comes with two eight inch basketballs. It has a water sprayer which attaches to your garden hose and has a turtle and fish character which can be removed and played with independently.
It’s made from vinyl, is suitable for kiddies aged three and upwards and it’s dimensions are: (H)112, (W)224, (L)239cm.
Happy Splashing!

Even though you won’t catch me in a tent (unless it’s a 5 star one a’la those featured in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and then I might consider it!) I can spot a good tent deal when I see one, and this 2 person teepee tent from Argos is just that!
I used to camp you know! Iused to kip out in the garden in my brother’s two-man tent and I spent many a camping trip away with the Girl Guides in a 12-girl bell tent!
This 2 person teepee tent reminds me of those Girl Guide days as the shape is very similar, much more interesting than your bog standard square and pointy efforts.
This particular one is in blue camo colours; there is a pink one, if you’re after a tent for a girl who’s into pink and flatly refuses to sleep under blue, but it’s £7 more expensive.
Anyway, back to this one! Argos have reduced it from £49.99 right the way down to £17.99 which is an utter steal, in my opinion! Reading a comment from cRuNcHiE over at HUKD, it’s an awesome tent,
“I presume they only call this ‘kids’ due to the colours. I had one of the brown/creme ones argos do , also 2man, the same size specs as this. Loved it till someone slashed it open at Glasto! For adults you can get 2 in it comfortably, for a festival its really one person plus your stuff realisticly.
Never got wet in it once even with really bad Glasto rain in the past! Recommended!”
So there you have it tent fans! It’s great for kids, it’s great for adults and it’s great for Glasto! What more could you ask for!? (Cheaper home delivery from Argos instead of their £5.95 extortion!)

I’m not sure if the Secret Saturdays are shown outside the cable channel Cartoon Network. They should be though. This is one of those adventure style cartoon shows that I don’t mind watching too! Argos has reduced the Secret Saturdays Zak’s Cryptipedia to less than half price. Down from £21.99 to £9.99.
The Saturdays are a family – mum, dad and their ten year old son Zak. There’s also a strange ape-like creature who seems to have been adopted as an extra son, and a komodo dragon that can go invisible. Oh and what I think is a pterydactal. OK, so I watch the show but not that closely!
Other than being secret agents out to save special animals called Cryptids, they’re just another normal family. Dad is rather stressed and focussed on his job (he’s also built like the back-side of a barn and has a rather manly scar slashed across his face). Mum is just like any of us. Super hot, and always wearing a skin tight jumpsuit that leaves nothing to the imagination. I can see the dads looking in the TV guide now…
This particular gadget describes itself as the ultimate Zak Saturday gadget. It works by inserting action figure or Cryptid cards to hear cool facts about the characters, or track and capture Cryptids with the tracking device. The Cryptipedia comes with the three AAA batteries required.

I don’t know what it’s like in your house, but in mine it can seem as if there are never enough hooks for coats! These multi-coloured ball coat hooks fit over the top of the door so there’s no for drills, raw plugs, hammers and screws!
Of course you don’t just have to hang coats on coat hooks. Hang this coat hook contraption over the back of a bathroom door and you have four places to put your towels.
The Teenagers have over-the-door coat hooks on their bedroom doors – ok, so they might be empty most of the time as they seem to be of the opinion that school blazers, dressing gowns and fleece jumpers look better just thrown on the floor. But at least there’s somewhere for these things to be hanged when I go into full-blown ‘HANG YOUR CLOTHES UP!’ nagging mode!
I love the fact that there’s no fixing to the wall involved with these coat hooks. You can move them around if necessary and take them with you if you sell-up and go to live somewhere else, without leaving gapping great holes in the walls for the people moving in to deal with.
Now, Argos have reduced this item from £12.99 down to just £2.49 but I suggest you arrange to collect in store, otherwise you’re going to get stung with their OTT delivery charge of £5.95 – NOT GOOD!

This is just the kind of bargain I love. It is actually two bargains in one package! Argos has reduced the price of the Littlest Pet Shop Collectible Assortment pet pack from £3.99 to £1.99. Plus, it is also in the buy one get one free offer. So you get two packs for £1.99. See a double bargain!
I wish I had a little girl in my life to shower with these toys, I love the wide-eyed little animals that much. Unfortunately my son has no interest, my step-daughter and all my nieces are far too old. My youngest sister was inconsiderate enough to have two boys, neither of who will even look at anything remotely girly.
However I do tend to give the play sets as presents. Partly because they’re so sweet, and partly because they’re very nearly always in those regular 75% off sales that Sainsbury’s does frequently on its toys. Some of these pet packs would make a great addition. I’m also wondering if it would be possible to break one up and put the individual toys into gift bags.
You get either two pets, or one pet and one pet accessory, in a pack. As far as I can tell from the website, there’s no way to specify which pets you get. There are special, rare edition pets, which you may possibly get too.

When you’re a boy of a certain age, any old bag or suitcase just won’t do!
This 4-piece dinosaur luggage set from Argos could just make tears and tantrums over which luggage a thing of the past…they’d become extinct, you could say *hur hur*
I’ve lost count of the amount of times my boys got upset because they felt the bag I’d given them to pack their things in wasn’t ‘cool’ or ‘boy’ enough, “It’s girly! Everyone will laugh at me!” and no amount of, “No one’s going to be looking at your bags, “ would convince them otherwise.
This luggage set has a wheeled bag, gym bag, backpack and a purse although I wouldn’t recommend you call it a purse – purses are for GIRLS! *sigh* – and they all have a dinosaur pattern which most definitely cannot be described as girly.
The dimensions for each are as follows:
- Wheeled bag: Size (H)46cm x (W)28cm x (D)11.5cm
- Backpack: Size (H)26cm x (W)23 x (D)7.5cm
- Gym bag: Size (H)38cm x (W)29cm
- Purse (it’s a WALLET!): Size (H)10cm x (W)14cm x (D)4cm
Argos have reduced this 4-piece luggage set by £10, bringing it down from £19.99 to £9.99. It’s currently in stock for home delivery which will cost you £5.95, or you can collect it for free at a store near you if they have it in stock.

Bouncy, bouncy, bouncy, bouncy, fun-fun-fun-fun! That’s what Tigger would say if he had one of these Chad Valley Inflatable Activity Centres!
Good old Argos have reduced this Chad Valley Inflatable Activity Centre from £29.99 to £16.99 which makes it an inexpensive addition to your summer garden toy collection, and another weapon in your arsenal against summer holiday boredom.
It’s not huge so it won’t dominate your enitre backyard green space, but will be big enough to keep your little toddler amused for hours and hours.
They can bounce around on the inside, slide down the little slide to the outside and play ‘hoopla’ trying to get the inflatable rings over the erm – what would you call them..? – I don’t know…sticky-out-bits? Inflatable spikes? Well, whatever the technical term, kids love all of these things so a Chad Valley Inflatable Activity Centre is bound to be a big hit!
When it’s inflated it measures (H)178, (W)160, (D)160cm. It’s suitable for kids aged three years and over and has a maximum weight limit of 70kgs (oooh, I could play on it!) and it’s made of PVC.
If you’ve got a foot-operated pump, you’ll get a good vigorous leg workout inflating this thing. If you haven’t, then my goodness I hope you’ve got lungs made of iron – failing that, perhaps consider buying an electical pump…it’s just a suggestion!

If you’ve got a budding Bob The Builder in your house then this JCB workbench could be just the thing for them!
My four-year-old would love me forever if I bought him one of these, ok so he’ll love me forever anyway but you know what I mean.
Kids always want to help out when you’re doing DIY or gardening things until they hit 14 and 15 and then breathing is almost too much effort, but I digress!
So when it’s time to get the tools out and engage in a bit of proper ‘Bob the Buildering’, you can let your little builder’s mate loose with their own child-safe JCB workbench complete with its 74 accessories!
It suitable for young builders aged three year or over, all the bits and piece pack away neatly into their own portable tool case and it measures 46 x 43 x 69cm (18 x 17 x 27in).
The JCB workbench and all that comes with it is a bit of a bargain at £21.99 in my opinion, and there’s also a special ‘bonus’ offer attached to it – if you want the JCB tool case too, you can get it for £5 instead of £9.99 if you buy it with the workbench.
If your local Argos has this in stock then you can collect it from them for free, if not you’re looking at a £5 charge for next day delivery.
Happy Drilling!

Don’t hunt for it, Argos it! Sorry, couldn’t resist that. Right, so here we have an adorable toy washing machine that comes with a free box of pretend washing powder, for only £9.99 at Argos. Originally retailing for £12.99, you are making a quiet little saving of £3.
The washing machine comes with realistic lights and sounds and you can pull out the drawer to add your pretend washing powder. You can choose a spin cycle, listen as the washing machine fills with water and watch the drum rotate. It demands four AA batteries that are not included and is ideal for kids over the age of three.
Now, while this is a lovely deal and all, I am not a fan! I know, I know, there are many kids that would love this toy, but I can’t help feeling that doing the laundry should be a special hell reserved for adulthood and avoided as a kid.
They’ll soon (sniff) be all grown up and complaining about their loads of laundry and the tedium of housework so why play at it when you don’t have to? I may be the only one who feels this way, though!
