Hello Kitty Sensory Play Den £7.99 @ Argos

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 22 February, 2012 at 3:00 pm

Hello Kitty Sensory Play Den £7.99 @ Argos

Argos has reduced the Hello Kitty Sensory Play Den from £19.99 to only £7.99 which is less than half the original price. It’s a great gift for little ones who are looking for some entertainment while parents get some essential household chores done and dusted.

The Hello Kitty Sensory Play Den is for active little kids who love to explore and plunge to the depths of a ball pool. This beautifully designed Hello Kitty pop-up play den can be filled with balls and beanbags so you child can hunt for them and dig them out and have tons of fun in the process.

The Hello Kitty Sensory den includes stimulating colours and comes with three beanbags to hunt for. I don’t believe it comes with the balls though, so you may have to spend some extra cash to get yourself a bag or two of those to throw in there. They are selling the pink ones at Argos for £4.99.

Fisher-Price Little People Spin ‘n’ Crash Raceway £12.99 @ Argos

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 20 February, 2012 at 7:00 pm

Fisher-Price Little People Spin ‘n’ Crash Raceway £12.99 @ Argos

The Fisher-Price Little People Spin ‘n’ Crash Raceway is on almost half price sale at Argos as you save £12 off the £24.99 RRP.

Despite the rather annoyingly sexist description of this item - Boys are in the driver's seat as they control all the thrills and spills fun around the Spin 'n' Crash Raceway from Fisher-Price  - I can totally see my daughter and myself having loads of fun with thisotoy.

This raceway includes two race cars, two driver figures, four flags and a trophy and weighs in at 2.2kg. It requires 4xC batteries which are not included.

The reviews on this are pretty good – a couple weren’t impressed, or it did crash loud enough or was quite noisy with the plastic on plastic crashing, but overall, the reviewers were positive and the kids loved it.

They are out of stock for home delivery, but you can click and collect and pick it up to make a saving on the rather hefty delivery charges anyway.

National Geographic Night-Vision Goggles £5.99 @ Argos

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 19 February, 2012 at 9:00 am

National Geographic Night-Vision Goggles £5.99 @ ArgosNow this is just what most 10 year olds want surely? Or was it only me? How cool to have a pair of night-vision goggles. Would make a great item for the present drawer too. These National Geographic Night-Vision Goggles are reduced by 50% by Argos. Down from £13.49 to £5.99.

There's still plenty available for home delivery, however it would work out cheaper to reserve and collect instore for free if you can.

Take exploring to a whole new level with these National Geographic Night-Vision Goggles. With enhanced light and sound, this high-tech head gear gives children the ultimate device for outdoor exploration. You get, included, a high-powered flash light and sonic ear listening device with automatic volume limiter to keep sound at a safe level.

Batteries are required. These take two AAA batteries, and according to the description on the website, they're not included. If you don't have any at home, you'll need to pick some up. The site recommends this for 8 years and over, and warns that they're not suitable for children under 3.

One thing I've been wondering about. What is the etiquette on giving presents that need batteries? Lets say I bought these goggles for a birthday present for one of my son's friends. As it doesn't come with batteries, should I include some? Or is it accepted that the parents will supply things like that?

Rubber Ducks Pack Of 3 £1.79 @ Argos

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 18 February, 2012 at 3:00 pm

Rubber Ducks Pack Of 3 £1.79 @ ArgosRubber ducky, you're the one. Rubber ducky, you're so much fun. Even as an adult, bath's are just that little bit more fun with a rubber duck. These ducks from Argos are just gorgeous, really cut little duckies with 'personality'. And they're on sale. You can get the Rubber Ducks Pack of 3 for £1.79 instead of £3.99. That's half price.

This is a quacking great deal (groan, I know, who could resist though?). The ducks are yellow (as all the best rubber ducks are of course), and are made of PVC. Each duck measures 10.5cm high, 8cm wide, and 11cm deep. It is out of stock for delivery but when I checked there were plenty at the ten nearest stores to me. You can reserve and collect instore.

There are a number of good reviews on the site. One commenter writes "I bought these for my friends daughter who came to stay with us for the weekend. What can I say? They are my personal childhood favourite and they definitely provided this little girl with bath time fun!"

I didn't have a rubber duck when I was a kid. In fact, we didn't have bath time toys at all. Maybe that wasn't quite the done thing then? I always wanted one though, and was thrilled when one of the presents I was given when my son was born contained a rubber duck. It still sits there on the side of the bath now. This would make a superb gift set.

Vtech Soft Singing Phone £3.49 @ Argos

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 17 February, 2012 at 3:00 pm

Vtech Soft Singing Phone £3.49 @ Argos

The Vtech soft singing phone is a great learning toy for babies aged three months and over and Argos has marked it down from the usual £10.19 to only £3.49. This is a great saving of less than half off the original price.

The Vtech soft singing phone is not available for delivery at the moment but you can arrange to collect instore, which saves you nicely on the delivery charges anyway! This is an entirely non-breakable mirror phone that has some features to help a child’s development.

According to Vtech the soft singing phone mirror promotes self-awareness while the fabric and plastic materials used over the rest of the phone are great for tactile exploration. The bright colours and flashing lights promote visual exploration and there are also animal sound effects for extra fun.

The Vtech soft singing phone has fun phrases, phone sounds and animal noises and will need you to feed it two AA batteries that are included at first.

Mega Bloks Hello Kitty Scoop and Build Tub £10.99 @ Argos

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 16 February, 2012 at 7:00 pm

Mega Bloks Hello Kitty Scoop and Build Tub £10.99 @ Argos

The 450 piece Mega Bloks Hello Kitty Scoop and Build Tub is on sale at Argos for £10.99 instead of £24.99. It’s currently available from an Amazon seller for £37.99. I can’t seem to find it available anywhere else.

This seems to be quite a large set, with 450 pieces aimed at the over four age group, it also contains a sticker sheet and comes in a decorative storage bin. The lid of the storage bin can be used as a scoop for quick and easy cleaning up.

The blocks themselves are themed for summer and picnics, with a good sized Hello Kitty figure for playing with. There’s a boat, a picnic area and even special decorative blocks you can use the stickers on. Picnic done, Hello Kitty can pick fruit out of the trees and hide from the summer sun (!) under a red and yellow parasol.

The reviewers on it are all happy with it, and their children all seem to love it.  Seems like pretty good value for money!

Reversible Cinderella To Snow White Dress Up £8.99 @ Argos

Feel like being Cinderella today? Want to be Snow White tomorrow? Well, with this reversible dress up dress you can, and it has now been reduced from £19.99 to only £8.99 which is a whopping discount indeed.

This clever and reversible Disney costume is perfect for everyday playtime or dressing up parties. The set comes with a tiara that has a plastic jewel detail and the dress can switch between one mood and the next with a simple twist.

I love these dresses. They are so darn clever, especially the way they are stitched together. This particular set is one we got a while ago and it is still very much loved by my daughter in spite of the fact that it isn’t her size anymore.

You can’t find these dresses for such a low price anywhere so this is a total bargain, and the sizes are available from age 3 to age five.

VTech Pink Pop-Up Surprise Ball £3.99 @ Argos

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 11 February, 2012 at 3:00 pm

VTech Pink Pop-Up Surprise Ball £3.99 @ ArgosThis looks like a simple, but entertaining, toy. The VTech Pink Pop-Up Surprise Ball has been reduced by Argos from £10.99 to £3.99. Collect for free from a store, or have it delivered for £5.95.

Who doesn't love flashing lights and surprises? Most babies I've met sure do. You can make their play time fun and educational with this charming pink surprise circular pop-up ball. Well at least that's what it says on the website. But isn't just about everything a baby does or plays with at this age educational? I mean you'd have to really keep the baby in a sterile environment to stop them from actually learning anything.

What this Pink Pop-Up Surprise Ball does have are pretty kitten features that teach animal names as well as a light up star that plays sweet music. Again I'd take issue with the fact that the ball teaches anything - it is an inanimate object with a few functions that rely on repetition for the child to pick anything up. People teach; objects are tools. I am probably expecting too much from simple marketing material though.

You press the light-up star to play peek-a-boo with the puppy. Press the buttons to hear animal names, fun responses and music. Batteries are required - but also included. You need 2 x AA batteries to make it go. It is suitable for ages 3 months and over.

Hot Wheels 10 Car Pack £4.99 @ Argos

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 9 February, 2012 at 4:00 pm

Hot Wheels 10 Car Pack £4.99 @ Argos

This is a great price for a pack of ten Hot Wheels cars, dropping the price per car to under 50p per car. Originally selling for £10.19, this is a great bargain for a lot of fab cars. I love Hot Wheels!

The Hot Wheels ten pack of cars is not available for home delivery at the moment but you can reserve and collect instore. It is also worth noting that no pack is the same so you have absolutely no idea what cars you’re going to get.

Each pack comes with an exclusive car that is pretty darn cool and the styles will vary from set to set. You can buy two or three of these and end up with very few similarities! The cars included in these Hot Wheels sets are not all necessarily compatible with other Hot Wheels sets – I think that is pretty rubbish actually.

Anyway, a great price for a ton of toy fun. What’s not to like?

Moon Dough Supermarket £8.99 @ Argos

Here is yet another tasty Argos deal with the awesome Moon Dough Supermarket marked down from £15.99 to only £8.99, a nice saving indeed. I am very tempted to get a Moon Dough set as I have heard they are awesome fun.

The Moon Dough Supermarket comes with a magically moulding cash register that can create up to six unique coins. You can then use each one of these coins to purchase any one of the six moulded grocery items at the checkout.

The Moon Dough Supermarket lets kids stock up of fresh milk, bread, fruits and more and includes the magical moulding cash register, six moulds, a shopping basket and three different colours of Moon Dough.

The set apparently helps to improve hand-eye co-ordination, motor skills, social and emotional development and creativity. It is also at a bargain price and would make a fab addition to the Present Cupboard!

Fireman Sam Scooter £14.99 @ Argos

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 8 February, 2012 at 4:00 pm

Fireman Sam Scooter £14.99 @ Argos

Argos has reduced this cute Fireman Sam scooter down from £34.99 to only £14.99 which is less than half the original price. It comes with all sorts of Fireman Sam related accessories and is a bright red streak of scooting fun.

The Fireman Sam scooter features a water filled pump action firehose that can be removed and used as a backpack. Although I don’t think anyone is going to be using water as a fun activity outdoors at the moment, it is sooo cold.

The Fireman Sam scooter is made from steel and plastic and has three wheels – one at the front and two at the back – for extra balance and support. The tyres have been designed to withstand puncturing and the base of the scooter has an anti-slip feature.

The handles are designed to be easy grip and the handlebar is height adjustable so it can grow with your child. The Fireman Sam scooter is for children aged three years and over and will need some assembly.

Squinkies Disney Princess Coach Dispenser £13.99 @ Argos

The Squinkies are getting quite popular now and have started to creep into kiddie chatter around my school recently as well. This Squinkies Disney Princess coach dispenser is down from £24.99 to only £13.99 which is a saving of £11 off the original price.

Now, the Squinkies Disney Princess coach dispenser is not available for delivery at the moment but I have checked and it appears that there is stock nationwide for reserve and collect instore. Hopefully you won’t have any problems getting your hands on one.

Snug Fleeces £3.99 @ Argos

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 3 February, 2012 at 7:00 pm

Snug Fleeces £3.99 @ Argos

Argos has some his (junior) and her ( also junior) snug fleeces with popular Disney branding on offer for a very reasonable £3.99, reduced from £9.99.

I don’t know about you, but I just don’t seem to be able to warm up at the moment. A hot bath works for a while but by the time I’m settled in for the evening, my very bones are cold again.

As these fleeces are for children, they’re not going to help me, but if your little one has the same problem – or constantly kicks off their blankets – these wearable fleeces might be a good solution to your problem.

Apart from the fact that they are 100% polyester, there’s not much information about them, unfortunately, but  there’s one review on each, and they’re both very positive. Apparently the kids love them, so that’s not bad – and at this price they’re fantastic value too.

Argos’ delivery is really expensive for small items at £5.95, so you’d do better to check your local store for stock, and reserve it for collection.

You also get two bridge railings and four bridge supports so you can create a track that offers uphill and downhill racing. There are 12 roadside fences and two starting markets and, of course, the two controllers for the little mini racers themselves. You will need to buy four D batteries to run the track though.

The Usborne Children’s World Atlas £1.99 @ Argos

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 3 February, 2012 at 3:00 pm

The Usborne Children’s World Atlas £1.99 @ Argos

I am frankly astonished by this deal. What a lovely bargain. This Usborne Children’s World Atlas is down from £8.99 to only £1.99 which is not only a whopping saving on the original price but also a really awesome book to have.

The Usborne Children’s World Atlas has internet links littered throughout the book. We bought the encyclopaedia version just after Christmas this year and it is really, really good. Each section comes with a bunch of internet links that show you even more videos, information, pictures and stories about the stuff on the page.

My daughter loves hers, she takes it with her when we go out and tells us all about the things inside it. We’re even learning things here! The book has 60 pages of maps along with introductions to the continents, satellite photography, and lots of facts about the various countries.

The Usborne Children’s World Atlas at this price is a complete and utter steal.

Chad Valley Round Sandpit Frame £13.99 @ Argos

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 30 January, 2012 at 3:00 pm

Chad Valley Round Sandpit Frame £13.99 @ Argos

The Chad Valley round sandpit frame is down from £34.99 to only £13.99 which is a brilliant new price and I wish, wish, wish we had a garden so I could nab this for my offspring. The discount is well below half price for an ace sandpit.

The Chad Valley round sandpit frame has compartments for water or toys scattered around a central sand holding area. There are six identical sections that form the round frame and the entire kit comes with a ground and cover sheet as well.

You also get approximately 30kgs of sand to fill the pit, which is really good value for money here, and the entire sandpit is 141x18cm in size. It is brilliant for little ones to play in on hot summer days and to create all sorts of mess as they wriggle around in the sand.

This is an excellent deal for a really unusual sandpit that I rather like!

The Smurfs Nail Party £3.49 @ Argos

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 28 January, 2012 at 3:00 pm

The Smurfs Nail Party £3.49 @ ArgosI don't know why but I just love the idea of Smurf nails! There's also something really fun about painting your nails when you're a kid. And for many grown ups too, although I have to say I haven't been bothered for years now. I guess it is a personal thing. This The Smurfs Nail Party set is reduced by half price at Argos, from £9.99 to £3.49. You can click and collect instore for free, otherwise delivery is £5.95, so it would be best as part of a bigger order to make that worthwhile.

According to the website you get four nail varnishes and nail stickers. There's no more description than that unfortunately. Which is a bit of a shame but at this price, it is still worth a go as a present or something for the present drawer.

One reviewer on the site complained that the nail varnish peeled easily, which they weren't happy at for the price. However, with the set reduced, it makes it better value for money.

However, as another reviewer comments, giving it three stars out of five, "Not excellent quality nail varnishes but the big chunky bottles, stickers and bright colours are great for little fingers to hold and use so ideal present for children."
