Personally Presented Gift Set Review

25 May 2012

Personally Presented is a baby gift company offering a range of baby gifts and clothes personalised with embroidered text.  They do a range of products to give you lots of choice, but not so much that you don’t know where to start, and give up without actually completing your order (as happened to me on a different site this morning!)

There are little gifts, like the Baby Girl's Blanket & Teddy Gift Set(£20) which consists of a baby fleece blanket and a Bruno Bear. There are also gift sets of up to £95 (such as the Ultimate Bubblegum Pink Box Set) which consists of a bodysuit, rompasuit, sleepsuit, t-shirt, blanket, towel, bib, hat and Bonnie Bear, all personalised with the baby’s name.

Cosy Comfort Pink Girl's Gift SetWhile Personally Presented do offer a 100% organic cotton range, all of which is Soil Association or GOTS accredited (Global Organic Textile Standard), the bulk of their range is made of normal cotton, and some have polyester.

We received the Baby Girl’s Tracksuit Gift Set, worth £50, to review.

The set contains a baby tracksuit, t-shirt and Huggy Bear, gift packed in a beautiful box. The t-shirt is made of 100% cotton, and the tracksuit is 80% cotton and 20% polyester and has Oeko Tex Class 100 certification. Yeah – I didn’t know what that was either! Oeko Tex certification is an international testing and certification system for textiles, limiting the use of certain chemicals, making it healthier for babies skin.

Like most of the other clothes, this set is available in sizes 3 – 6 months, 6 – 12 months and 12 – 18 months. I quite think something personalised should offer the option of 0 – 3 months too, actually, because it’s something you could then save for your baby’s memory box. That, and that you have the baby’s name right there on display. My daughter has a slightly unusual name and I’ve been asked to write it down countless times!

The hoodie can accommodate two lines of text, so ours was sent out with her name and date of birth, once again making it more appropriate for a newborn outfit, I think. That said, newborn clothes do have a very limited shelf life, so that’s probably why they keep to the larger sizes.

The clothes are of a lovely quality. The t-shirt is baby friendly with two poppers to make pulling on and off easier and the sleeves are wide, so it should be easy to get your fingers in to guide a little arm through. There are five fonts to choose from for the personalisation and the stitching is beautifully precise.

Baby Girl's Tracksuit Gift SetThe only concern with the t-shirt is that there’s no backing on the stitching, and I’d be a little concerned that it might be uncomfortable rubbing against soft baby skin. It’s not that it should be a problem, but it is a little rough and is something to consider.

The tracksuit is gorgeously soft, and I sat warming my fingers up on the inside of the trouser legs for some time while I was thinking about what to write! They are fleece lined on the inside, and super soft and lovely.

The teddy bear is actually a perfect accompaniment to a new baby gift, especially if there are older siblings. The baby is unlikely to care much for the bear, despite it being soft and cuddly and having her name on it. My toddler, however, was off with the bear within seconds and I haven’t seen it since. (It apparently now lives in her castle!)

The Good

  • Ultimate Dusty Blue Box SetIt’s really nicely made, and is a lovely idea and a special gift.
  • It is good quality, warm and soft.
  • They’re ethically made in India or Africa.

The Bad

  • It’s not bad, as such, just a concern with that stitching against a potentially delicate skin.
  • I seem to complain about this in almost all the reviews I do lately, but really? Can I be the only one that wants my little girl in something other than pink? At least here you have two choices of pink – bubble gum and powder pink, and for boys there’s navy blue and dusty blue. Oh, and there’s one mint green t-shirt too.

The Verdict

A beautiful gift set, which has lasting value in a memory box or as dolls clothes. As with all these things, they’re not particularly cheap, but they are all the good things I mentioned above.

Delivery is free in the UK and international orders are £5, which is pretty good, and all orders receive a free gift bag.
