"Here is the clock. The Trumpton clock. Telling the time... steadily sensibly; never too quickly never too slowly... Telling the time for Trumpton!"
Trumpton was the main town in the county of Trumptonshire. There was a town hall, with a clock tower, various shops and shop keepers, a town Mayor and a bandstand where the Trumpton fire brigade would play at the end of each episode.
I loved Trumpton SO much as a kid and, I'm sorry, forget the kids, they can keep their new TV programs this is old school and for grown ups! I was really surprised to discover there were only 13 episodes made! How can that be?? Trumpton was on for y e a r s!!
I can also settle the 'ancient' arguement as to the names of the fireman! Was it Hugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble, Grubb? Or PUGH, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble, Grubb?
Well Trumpton fans I can reveal, after a bit of Googling for the definitive guide to Trumpton, that it was/IS Pugh, Pugh and Co - Pugh and Pugh were twins apparently!
