If I had to choose a favourite between the Very Hungry Caterpillar and The Gruffalo it would be a close run race, but after much deliberation that greedy caterpillar would be the one I'd go for.
He was first published in 1969 - did you know that? - and not only is he an iconic story from MY childhood but in almost every childhood since.
I've yet to see, or hear of, a child who's read The Very Hungry Caterpillar story, not poked their fingers through the holes and giggled at all the things he eats, then puts the book down and says, "I didn't like that story, it's a bit rubbish!"
This Very Hugry Caterpillar Butterfly Hand Puppet is sure to delight young children just as much as the book.
His wings measure a combined 40.6cms x 20.3cms, they are brightly coloured and made of a shiny crinkle material that will capture attention and stimulate the senses.
You don't have to take my word for it, reviews are excellent...
I love this product, and my four year old daughter for whom I bought it was absolutely delighted when she opened it on Christmas day.
The puppetry side of things was not what I was expecting - you have to spread your hand out wide to get your fingers into the backs of the wings, and flapping the wings is not so easy with outspread fingers.
But my children have small enough hands to get a hand in each wing and operate it that way. Bottom line: I would definitely recommend it - it's gorgeous.
Not only is he gorgeous but he's currently half price too - £6.50 instead of £12.99.
