First Great Western Train Strikes Over August Bank Holiday

first great western strike pm

This is not going to be good news if you are planning on getting away for the August Bank Holiday weekend, which is just a few short weeks away.

First Great Western workers will be walking out in a series of strikes, affecting the main train lines between London and the South West and Wales. The RMT Union announced the strikes today, and one will be during the August Bank Holiday at the end of this month.

If your train journey isn't cancelled then it may mean extra delays, so be aware of that if you are travelling with babies and young children. You might want to check out Nada's tips for travelling with young childrenfor some ideas to make the journey less stressful.

If your first thought was "that's okay, we're driving" like mine was then think again, as all those rail travellers may just have to join us on the roads when they can't get the train. As if the chaos wasn't bad enough at a Bank Holiday!
