There's a Toy Sink Unit on offer at Amazon for just £14.39 instead of £35 and comes with free delivery.
I don't know what it is about play kitchen's and toy sinks and and stoves, but kids seem to love role playing adult activities. Poor things don't know that they're in for a life time of dishes and cooking, and like to get in while it's still fun. Although Montessori says that it's good for children to learn through life-like play, as that's how they learn best, so it can probably only be a good thing.
The Toy Sink Unit from Casdon is very much like the real thing, it seems, with running water sounds, a 'working' (sounds only) waste disposal system and dishwasher sounds. It has a white sink and dishwasher, and it comes with a 13 piece tea set, food box and tins, five utensils, two dishwasher trays, a drainer tray, imitation eggs and a chicken, so pretty much a perfect start to a play kitchen.
The Toy Sink Unit measures 300 mm tall (plus tap) x 300 mm wide x 230 mm deep (12" x 12" x 9"). It requires 2 x AA batteries which are not included.
