We've reviewed Reading Eggs here on PlayPennies, and my daughter still uses it. She's not even in reception yet and her reading is pretty impressive, largely due to Reading Eggs. While we've never done a day of 'formal' learning with her, the software is fun and simple to follow and she is just playing games, but learning as she goes. It's really brilliant, unobtrusive and incidental learning, which is ideal at this age.
Reading Eggs is suitable from 3 years old to 13 years old. Along with the games, songs and 'rewards' for learning letters there are over 1000 fiction and factual e-books.
