Mika Cotbed in Antique £70 @ John Lewis

Mika Cotbed in Antique £70 @ John Lewis

One of the best investments you can make when having a baby is buying a cot bed. They last your cherished one right from birth up until around the 5 years old mark. My eldest was in his comfortably until 5 and then into a single bed. Kids grow so fast. Moses baskets, cribs, space saver cots, cots…this does the job of all of those.

Made of solid birch, this cot bed is a super bargain at £70. It was selling for a whopping £200 so you are saving a massive £130. Delivery is free, or you can collect from John Lewis or Waitrose.

This cot bed has three base positions, highest for newborns to lowest for the more mobile tot. The super thing is that once converted into a bed, following its use as a cot, it can have a universal bed guard attached. This for me is a great feature, as with my middle child, we struggled to fit a universal one on his Mamas and Papas one. One had to be purchased from them, at a much higher price than a bog standard one.

The antique wood finish adds a touch of class to this nursery piece. John Lewis is selling the matching items too, with massive reductions. Just search for "Mika" on the John Lewis page.

This is self-assembly, so if like me, you don’t know your screw from your nail then you will need to enlist some help. The mattress is not included but this is standard with most cotbeds. The mattress required is 140 x 70cm.

I've got this, didn't pay £70 for it though, its lovely. Big decent sturdy bed. Nice colour. Also has three levels to set at, so you don't have to bend over to the bottom all the time! The matching drawers are also nice, solid. They dont look too "nursery" either so should last a few years.
