what do you do with concerns over childminders?
The toddler group we go to is attended by a childminder and four children every week. I have real concerns over the 'care' these children are getting n want to now if I shld say something. The children arrive without appropriate clothing on, coats open no gloves or hats or scarves. I asked her about it once and she said because parents complain at her when they lose things! but they get there and there fingrs and cheeks are bright red! the hole time she doesn't have anything to do witth them she chats and drinks tea and goes on her phone but the children can cry and anything. She doesn't change nappies either. they can have a stinky nappy and she says she'll change them when they get back home. once a little boy had crap running down his leg and she yanked him to the change room yelling that he was a naughty boy and he came back crying. i can tell you 100 thinks about her. is there some way of complaining about her without getting 'involved' because i am wanting to train as a childminder and am scared of getting a bad name.
Do you have her name? She must be registered with Ofsted if she is a childminder. See if you can follow whatever complaint procedure they have, or call them. The council also monitors childminders and sends out lists with childminder names on it. You can call them and put in a complaint. It does sound like a health and safety issue though for these children. I'd be inclined to call child services directly and ask for advice on what to do.
