Ahhh, another Monday morning, another mooch around the virtual aisles of The Book People - I love it. I also love their current price offer of £8.99 for the New Diary of a Wimpy Kid book collection, instead of the full recommended £40.94 list price.
We went to a family function yesterday and hitched a lift with my nephew, his wife and their two children; my great-nephew is 10 and spent a lot of the journey absolutely engrossed in a Diary of the Wimpy Kid book - there is NO question that these books are a huge hit with boys.
That can only be a good thing, as far as I'm concerned; boys enjoying reading is something I like to see, boys being behind the expected standard for reading according to their ages, at any age is just shocking and it means they're being let down.
The Diaries of a Wimpy Kid are cartoon diaries written by a boy called 'Greg Heffley' - his entries describe adventures that involve family, friends and humour and will have your child laughing and giggling all the way through.
If you have a reluctant reader in your family then the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books are just what you need to encourage them to get their noses stuck into books and reading of their own free will.
