Free Competitions: Win A PS3, A Kindle HD Or £7 000 In Cash

by Sarah Macdonald in Comps on 23 April, 2013 at 5:00 pm

Free Competitions: Win A PS3, A Kindle HD Or £7 000 In CashWell, here we go - another week, another round of competitions!

I'm not a Kindle fan - I won one a few years ago and gave it to Tamsin, so it could be loved! If you, however, are a Kindle fan and have been hankering after a new one, then enter this competition to win a Kindle HD.

You just have to sign up and enter your details before 12 May and you'll be in with a chance of winning.

I remember when I bought my very first Playstation - it only came with one game and that was Gran Tourismo 2.  I feel rather old thinking back to those days; mind you, not as old as when I think back to the first Nintendo and Super Mario!

If you fancy adding a PS3 to your games console collection then this competition is for you - a PS3 and a copy of Wonderbook: Book of Spells is up for grabs. All in, it's worth around £250.

Again, there's no daft question to answer, just hand over your details before 29 April to be in with a chance.

Personally, I could really care less about winning Kindles, PS3s, or holidays where I have to go between certain dates that might not be convenient for me. Just give me CASH!

So this competition to win £7 000 is MY kind of comp' - feel free not to enter, I don't want to dilute my chances!

But if you really HAVE to, then the answer to the question is: A (a gaggle - of geese, I'm guessing!) and the closing date for online entries is 2 May at 10am.

GOOD LUCK!

Selected Sunscreen Half Price @ Boots

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 23 April, 2013 at 12:00 pm

Selected Sunscreen Half Price @ BootsBoots are selling selected sunscreen products for half price!

Now, either Boots know something we don' t know, or they've got a TON of stock to get rid of due to last year's rubbish summer! Either way, if you can save yourself some cash on sunscreen, then DO - it's so expensive, that it pays to stock up 'on the cheap' when you can.

I think it's wrong that something so essential costs so much money - you can't help but wonder how many kids get exposed to the sun without adequate protection because of the huge dent in your budget sun cream can make.

You can easily filter all the sun protection products by clicking the tab for your chosen brand, SPF, whether you want protection for adults or kids and don't forget After Sun too (this was, and still is, my favourite sun cream of all, they always smell and feel so nice!).

I'm not sure whether these half price sunscreen deals apply in-store - if you're popping into Boots any time soon, perhaps you can post a comment to let me know.

Happy being safe in the sun!

Celebaby: Best Dressed Pregnant Mum

by Sarah Macdonald in Celebaby on 23 April, 2013 at 11:00 am

Celebaby: Best Dressed Pregnant MumOkay, let's sit down and discuss the options; we have two choices.

1) In the immortal words of The Borg, resistance is futile - royal baby stories about nothing will become more and more frequent the closer we get to July, it'll be even worse after July when the baby is born, so we might as well just go with the flow and gorge on them the same as everyone else; or

2) We can snub the stories and say, "Royal baby? Is there going to be one?"

Whilst you have a think about which way we should go, let me tell you that Catherine has been named as the world's best dressed pregnant mum.  It's also been revealed that rather than employ a maternity nurse after the baby's born, to help her with things, Kate's going to go back home and stay with her mum.

This makes sense on lots of levels:

1) Prince William won't be around much due to his RAF posting after his paternity leave

2) Their London appartment is being overhauled and asbestos has been found, and there's no way they'll be finished and ready before the baby arrives, so they can't live there; and

3) A girl needs her mum when she's just had her first baby; let alone when the entire world will be watching your every move!

So, have you decided yet? What are we going to do? Are we going to revel in all royal baby news from here on in, or are we going to talk about something else...like the weather for the time of year?

Answers on a virtual postcard, below, in the form of a comment!

Fisher Price 2-In-1 Swing Rocker £54.99 @ Home Bargains

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 23 April, 2013 at 10:00 am

Fisher Price 2-In-1 Swing Rocker £54.99 @ Home BargainsHome Bargains are selling this Fisher Price 2-in-1 Swing Rocker chair for £54.99, rather than £109.99.

I don't know whether I buy the £109.99 full retail price, and I certainly wouldn't buy it for that price - £54.99 is much more realistic.

I like items that can multitask, they always make me feel that I'm getting much more for my money.  SO, first of all, this Fisher Price 2-in-1 Swing Rocker is a swing with a deep comfy seat, five different speeds for variety and lots of songs—16 if you want to be precise - which will soothe your new baby.

Then when you'd prefer a baby rocker seat, you simply grab the handle with one hand, unlock the safety latch and lift the seat out - apparently it really is that simple - and VIOLA, you've got an rocker seat, rather than a swing, for your baby to rock in.

If you've got a Home Bargains close by, you can pop along and collect your Fisher Price 2-in-1 Swing Rocker for free. Otherwise, cross Home Bargains' palm with a couple of extra pounds and they'll drop it off to you instead.

Happy swinging and rocking!

Just Imagine Story Book £3.99 @ The Book People

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 23 April, 2013 at 9:00 am

Just Imagine Story Book £3.99 @ The Book PeopleThe Book People are selling this incredibly popular Just Imagine book, in hardback format, for £3.99 - it's recommended list price is £10.99.

I'm very excited by this book and may point my mum in its direction - this is the sort of thing she loves giving as presents, and my youngest niece has such a fabulous little imagination that I'm sure she'd adore Just Imagine for her birthday at the end of this month.

Thirty two pages of illustrations encourages kids to make up their own stories from the images they choose - how awesome is that?!  They'll be able to imagine what it's like to plough fields in a big red tractor - perhaps there's a scarecrow in the field who comes to life - if that's where their imagination takes them.  Or what it would be like to fly in a hot air balloon, be invisible, or be able to cast spells like a witch or wizard - no story will ever be the same twice, unless they want it to be.

Plenty of other people adore this book already, and its 'prequel' You Choose, so please don't wait too long to order your copy (if you think you might want one) as I'm sure it'll go out of stock pretty quickly.

Single item delivery usually costs £2.80, but you can bag it for free if you enter MARWEL into the promotion code/discount box in your basket.

Happy imagining!

LEGO Star Wars Storm Trooper Watch £8.99 @ IWOOT

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 22 April, 2013 at 11:00 am

LEGO Star Wars Storm Trooper Watch £8.99 @ IWOOTGet yourself over to I Want One of Those, or IWOOT if you want to be familiar, and you'll be able to pick up a LEGO Star Wars Storm Trooper watch for £8.99. At the moment they're selling for between £15 and £20 elsewhere.

If you don't already know that my youngest son is a HUGE Star Wars, and LEGO Star Wars, fan then you're obviously pretty new to PlayPennies; welcome!

He's very into telling the time at the moment and keeping track of the various events he has filling up his hectic social schedule and this LEGO Star Wars watch looks rather fun - he's already got a LEGO Star Wars Darth Vadar clock, so LEGO Star Wars time telling on the go will appeal to him.

As you'd expect with LEGO, it's not just a watch, it's a watch you have to build yourself and this one comes with a Storm Trooper mini-figure too.

It features a yellow and white Storm Trooper dial, a black round plastic case,  a black and white plastic strap, rotating bezel, Quartz movement, is waterproof down to 50 meters (that's deep!) and also comes gift boxed.

UK delivery is free and you must remember to enter code 10LECS to drop the website price down to £8.99, otherwise you'll end up paying £9.99 instead.

Peppa Pig Toddler Bed In A Bag £14.99 @ Argos

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 22 April, 2013 at 10:00 am

Peppa Pig Toddler Bed In A Bag £14.99 @ ArgosArgos are selling this Peppa Pig Toddler Bed in a Bag set for £14.99, rather than its original £23.99.

I have a bit of a thing for bedding sets and regularly find myself COMPELLED to buy them!  They don’t even have to be bargains like this Peppa Pig Toddler Bed in a Bag set, OR for kids either, there’s just something about climbing in between new sheets that have never been slept on, or under!

Character duvet sets can also be a useful tool for getting tired ‘but I’m NOT tired’ toddlers and pre-schoolers in to bed; whatever it takes I say!

These sets really are a bargain; each Bed in a Bag contains:

  • A 3.5 tog duvet
  • A character duvet cover
  • A pillow; and
  • A character pillowcase

If your local Argos doesn't have any stock, you're going to have to search a little further afield - use www.icheckstock.co.uk to help you, it's much easier than searching on the Argos product page itself.

Little Tikes Cosy Coupe £34.99 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 22 April, 2013 at 9:00 am

Little Tikes Cosy Coupe £34.99 @ AmazonI'm getting dead bored writing about the Little Tikes Cosy Coupe - I've lost count how many times it's been featured as a deal, but Amazon are selling the classic red and yellow version for £34.99 instead of £54.99.

The thing with the Little Tikes Cosy Coupe is this: kids LOVE them! If there's a Little Tikes Cosy Coupe parked up somewhere where there are young wannabe drivers, you can guarantee it won't be parked for long.  And if there's more than one of them there's bound to be tears over who gets the keys.

It features an open and close petrol cap, an 'ignition switch' for super-fast getaways (all of my kids loved turning the key and making VROOM VROOOOOM revving noises straight after) and it's front wheels swivel 360 degrees to make parking or getting out of a tight spot a breeze - a feature I could really do with on my car!

All of the usual Amazon deals apply here, so you can have it delivered to you for free if you're happy to wait a few days, or you can hand over a few extra pounds and have it delivered faster.

Winnie The Pooh Cot, Mattress And Bedding Bundle (Plus FREE Delivery) £120 @ Adsa Direct

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 20 April, 2013 at 1:00 pm

Winnie The Pooh Cot, Mattress And Bedding Bundle (Plus FREE Delivery) £120 @ Adsa DirectIf you really can't be doing with faffing around, looking for, a cot, then the mattress and the bedding, and would rather someone else do it for you, then head over to Asda Direct.

They've put together a complete package for you for £120 and will deliver it to you for free as well.

So, what do you get?  Well, let me tell you all about it:

You'll get a Kinder Valley Kai cot, in white, which feautres a drop side, three position base and a plastic teething rail cover - my eldest son used to drag his teeth across the top rail, it was horrible!

With it, comes a Kinder Flow Mattress which contains a specific nursery grade poly-fibre insert to provide  support and comfort. It has a breathable, yet water repellent, anti- allergenic cover that protects against dust mites etc.

On top of that, there's the Winnie the Pooh three-piece bed set which includes an anti-allergy cot quilt, cot bumper and fleece blanket. You'll also get two cream fitted jersey cotton sheets too.

Like I said at the very beginning, delivery is free, so £120 is your total investment for the whole deal - marvellous.

My Own Morph With 15-Episode DVD £4.71 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 20 April, 2013 at 12:00 pm

My Own Morph With 15-Episode DVD £4.71 @ AmazonIf you head over to Amazon you'll be able to pick up a My Own Morph set for £4.71 - his usual price is £12.99.

I've written about My Own Morph before and this is by far the cheapest he's ever been - he was double this price last time and, even then, he was a bit of a bargain.

I adore Morph - we have one in the office: he's sitting astride a huge piggy bank, waving a cowboy hat in his left hand - just think Pig Rodeo Morph and you'll be picturing him perfectly.

You'll need to be of a certain age to fully appreciate becoming the owner of a My Own Morph - if you don't remember the mild and gentle manner of Tony Hart, and the fabulousness that was Take Hart and just how naughty Chas and Morph were then, quite frankly, you have NO business having a Morph of your own.

This Morph won’t talk, move or get up to mischief like the real Morph did, but that won't matter because he’ll be YOUR Morph - created and born from of your own fair hands!

He comes with a step-by-step instructional DVD, some accessories to add character to your Morph - a beard, a magician's hat, skateboard etc (personally, I think I'd like my Morph 'plain') - and 15 original Morph episodes on DVD too.

Celebaby: Pink Or Blue?

by Sarah Macdonald in Celebaby on 20 April, 2013 at 10:00 am

Celebaby: Pink Or Blue?If you're a Saturdays fan then you may be a little confused, right now, as to whether or not Rochelle's expecting a boy or a girl.

Up until recently, all the clues seemed to be pointing towards a little girl - she's been spotted looking at pink baby clothes, and arrived at her baby shower carrying a bunch of pink balloons.

However, the other day, Rochelle's husband, Marvin's JLS bandmate, Ortise, appeared to let it slip that the baby is a BOY! Talking to OMG Yahoo, he said:

I'm so excited to be 'uncle Oritse', I’m still thinking of all the things I want to buy for it. We have the JLS tour planned, he's coming on tour and we’re going to spoil him."  Then he said, "Er...I didn’t say that, did I?!"

'Fraid so Ort' - but the question is: who's telling the truth?!  I reckon if I was a celeb' I might have some fun with the media and mess with their heads now and again, and see what they reported - I think it would be rather fun to lead them a right merry dance.

Apparently - and again, could this just be a press wind up? - Marvin wants to call the baby London.  Michael Buble thinks it's a cool name, and it is...on paper - I don't think it sounds so great when you say it out loud: London Humes.  It just sounds too close to London fumes to me!

One thing is for sure, we're not going to have to wait long to find out the answers to the boy or girl, and crazy name questions, as the little baby is due to arrive any time now.

Mr Potato Head Darth Tater £7.50 @ Tesco

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 20 April, 2013 at 9:00 am

Mr Potato Head Darth Tater £7.50 @ TescoTesco are selling this Mr Potato Head Darth Tater for £7.50.  His usual price is £15.00.

Mr Potato Head Darth Tater is such a cool pressie for two groups of people

1) Young Star Wars fans, who lean a little bit to the Dark Side now and again, and who have an appreciation for all things Potato Head; and

2) Older Star Wars fans who have everything - a Mr Potato Head Darth Tater will make for one of those 'comedy' pressies that solve the 'what to get the person who has everything' present dilemmas.

Now I know it's a little early to start thinking about presents for the end of the year (you know what I'm getting at, please don't make me say the C word, synonymous with the fat, bearded guy who wears a red suit!) but this is the sort of thing you can safely buy and stash away, knowing the recipient isn't going to grow out of it: once a Star Wars fan, always a Star Wars fan!

You can arrange to collect your Mr Potato Head Darth Tater at your local Tesco store, or you can pay them an additional £3 and they'll deliver it, not quite at light speed, to your door.

May the tater force be with with you!

Free Competitions: £150 Boden Vouchers, £5 000 CASH, Mountain Buggy Cosmopolitan Set Worth £517

by Sarah Macdonald in Comps on 19 April, 2013 at 5:00 pm

Free Competitions: £150 Boden Vouchers, £5 000 CASH, Mountain Buggy Cosmopolitan Set Worth £517I'm in SUCH a bad mood - which isn't good, seeing as it's a Friday - but HURRAH, it's the weekend!

One of you lucky PlayPennies competition players has the chance to win £150 of Boden vouchers and two runners up will receive £50 vouchers each.  I have to confess to not liking Boden stuff very much and their models aren't all that either (see, BAD. MOOD!).

But if you like Boden gear then enter this competition and you could win £150 of vouchers to spend there, or £50 if you're one of the runners up.

You don't have to answer any silly questions, just hand over your details before 11.59pm on 16 May.

I could very easily spend my way through lots of money when I'm in a bad mood - £5 000 wouldn't last very long at all. In fact, £5 000 wouldn't last very long when I'm in a good mood either!

The answer to the question is C (France) and the closing date for online entries is 25th April 2013 at 5pm.

If you're in the market for a new travel system then you might want to enter this competition to win a Mountain Buggy Cosmopolitan worth £499, and its cover, which is worth £18.

Here's the official blurb:

The essence of urban lifestyle exuding charm and sophistication, cosmopolitan delivers elegant aesthetics, fashionable denim exterior and exquisite handling on urban terrain, cosmopolitan offers flexibility and freedom to suit your lifestyle. A life without limit.

What a load of old WAFFLE (that's the polite version of what I'm thinking!) - honestly, have you ever read more cheesy marketing spiel! It's enough to put me off altogether - just give me a Cosmopolitan that contains alcohol!

Anyway, if you aren't put off by it then enter.  There's no question to answer, just fill in your details before 30 April and like a couple of pages on Facebook.

GOOD LUCK!

Horrible Histories Blood-Curdling Box (20 Books) £17.85 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 19 April, 2013 at 11:00 am

Horrible Histories Blood-Curdling Box (20 Books) £17.85 @ AmazonIf you head over to Amazon you'll be able to pick up a Horrible Histories Blood-Curdling Box of 20 books for £17.85, rather than £35.

If your kids are still small and you haven't come across Horrible Histories yet, then you're in for a treat. I remember when the Horrible Histories books first came out; I wanted to kiss Terry Deary, the author, for his genius approach to history and bringing it to life for my children!

Essentially, Horrible Histories are historical accounts with the gross, gory, slimy, smelly and disgusting bits left IN - just the sort of thing that kids love and will have them absolutely engrossed.  With books such as The Rotten Romans, The Terrible Tudors and The Awesome Egyptians, your child will never again tell you that history is boring.

Whenever there are Horrible Histories offers they tend to go out of stock fast, so don't dawdle if you want your own blood-curdling box set of 20 Horrible Histories books!

Happy curdling your blood!

40% Off All Spring Fashion Plus Free Delivery @ Pumpkin PatchIf you get yourself over to Pumpkin Patch you'll not only be able to save yourself 40% on all spring fashion, but you'll also bag yourself free delivery too.

My cousin dressed both her kids in all things Pumpkin Patch when they were small - which is a fair few years ago now, like 18! - and I distinctly remember how gorgeous they were (the clothes...oh okay, and the kids too. But don't tell them I said so, I'll lose all my power!) and how they just oozed quality.  As a result, they lasted a long time, survived being washed over and over, and she was able to sell most of the items she'd bought on eBay for a pretty good price.

Absolutely everything in the spring range is included in the 40% off promotion, so the world really is your Pumpkin Patch oyster - just hurry up, because lots of things are going out of stock fast and the promotion ends at midnight this coming Sunday (21 April).

You don't need to add a code to get the discount, the prices shown on their website have already been adjusted. However, to get free delivery you'll need to hand over code UKCMNEW4.

The only problem with this promotion...is not spending an absolute fortune, there are so many lovely things to choose from!

  • Click HERE to take a look at the We're Going on a Bear Hunt jigsaw puzzle book *

"We're going on a bear hunt, we're going to catch a BIG one!" OHHHH I LOVE THIS BOOK!  Ok, I love ALL books but this one definitely falls into the 'most favourite' category!

The words of this story are almost as familiar to me as my own name - from having it read to me as a child ("Wow mum, can you remember that far back?" "Yes, and YES we had electricity in those days!"), to marching through woods singing it when I was in the Brownies (ok, stop laughing) and then reading it to my own children - all of them have loved it and the numerous copies we possess are well-worn.

This particular version tells the original tale, in all its glory, but it also comes with seven 12-piece jigsaw puzzles to complete along the way.

Single item delivery usually costs £2.80 - however, if you use either the MARWEL or TULIP delivery codes (enter it into the promotions code box in your basket) then delivery will be freeeee.

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 18 April, 2013 at 12:00 pm

Marian-Plast Lilliput Dream House £39.99 @ Home BargainsHome Bargains are selling this Marian-Plast Lilliput Dream House for £39.99 rather than £89.99.

Click HERE to take a look at the Lilliput Dream House *

My youngest absolutely ADORED playing in play houses like this.  Going to the little pocket park, which had one, was great fun...trying to get him out of it without full scale tears and tantrums was almost impossible, only bribery on a grand scale would work.

If you like more neutral tones for your house then the Lilliput Dream House is most definitely going to offend your senses! It's bright and colourful in a colour scheme that only kids could love. It also has working windows and doors <----- handy, if you want to get in and out of it!

It's easy to clean and you're going to have to put your house-building hat on before your little one can start playing 'house', self-assembly is required.

In-store collection is the only option for getting your hands on a Lilliput Dream House, if you're not prepared to pop into town (or wherever your nearest store is) then you can't have one!

Happy house collecting!

Celebaby: A Quick Bump RecapThere are more than a few celebrity babies due this year, here's a quick recap of who's expecting, although not in due date order:

1) David Walliams and his wife, Lara - expecting their first baby

2) Penelope Cruz and hubby, Javier - expanding their family with baby number two

3) Michael Buble and his wife, Luisana - expecting a son; Luisana's amusing herself by coming up with some 'interesting' baby names

4) Alec Baldwin and his much younger wife, Hilaria - expecting their first child together, a little girl

5) The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge - just in case you missed the news, the nation is expecting a Royal baby in July

6) Rochelle, of The Saturdays fame - expecting her first little one, with hubby Marvin, any time now

7) Kim Kardashian and Kanye West - the debate is raging as to whether or not the baby's name will begin with a K

8) Black Eyed Peas' Fergie and her husband - recently announced they were expecting their first baby together

9) Model, Eva Herzigova - remember her? Well she's expecting her third baby

10) Channing Tatum (SUCH a cool name!) and his wife, Jenna - waiting to welcome their first baby into the world

11) Jessica Simpson - expecting a baby brother for daughter, Maxwell, soon. The baby shower was just the other day

12) Peaches Geldof - also expecting baby number two, another boy

13) Coleen and Wayne Rooney - expecting a brother for Kai

SO there you have it - I'm sure there are a few we don't know about, or I've forgotten, and wonder who on that list is going to 'pop' first?!

Anyone want to place their bets? I'm going to put my virtual money on...David Walliams and Lara (it was a toss up between them and Rochelle and 'Marv'').

Moshi Monsters Moshling Series 6 Value Pack £6.99 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 18 April, 2013 at 10:00 am

Moshi Monsters Moshling Series 6 Value Pack £6.99 @ AmazonIf you have a Moshi Monsters fan in your family then you might want to pop over to Amazon and pick up one of these Moshi Monsters Moshling Series 6 value packs of 10 Moshlings - they'll be yours for £6.99 instead of £14.99.

My youngest son, Edward, is very into Moshi Monsters. His favourites, for a long time, have been his Moshi Monsters 'Rock' monsters - at least I think that's what they're called, I can't remember, but they're hard and rock-like instead of being soft and 'moshi'.

It's his birthday in a couple of months time and when I asked him what he wanted, he reeled off a HUGE list of Moshi Monsters things. I can't even begin to recall what they all were, I'm going to have to ask him to write everything down for me - if you know seven-year-olds then you'll know just how much trouble I'll be in if I bought the wrong thing!

So, for now, I'm going to hold off buying a Moshi Monsters Moshling Series 6 value pack of 10 Moshlings...just in case.

Just a quick thought - if you're thinking about having a Moshi Monsters party, you could buy a couple of packs and put a Moshling in each party bag.

Fisher Price Precious Planet Musical Activity Gym £34.99 @ Boots

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 18 April, 2013 at 9:00 am

Fisher Price Precious Planet Musical Activity Gym £34.99 @ BootsBoots are selling this Fisher Price Precious Planet musical activity gym for £34.99, instead of its full £69.99 retail price.

I'm rather fond of baby gyms. All of my children spent some of their very early baby days playing underneath one. They were simple ones though as whilst I think they're great, I'm not a huge fan of adding twinkly tunes and flashing lights to every single baby 'thing' on the market.

But each to their own, and if you're after an all-singing-all-flashing-lights baby gym then this Fisher Price Precious Planet muscial activity gym could be just the thing you're after.

It's features just three arches, rather than the usual four, and you have the option to play up to 20 minutes of continuous music, or let your baby activate shorter bursts of musical segments. There are the usual soft toys to play with and reach for, and the mat is brightly coloured and  has various textures for your little one to explore.

In-store collection is free or home delivery is £2.95.
