Free Storybooks And Activities @ Stories For My Little Sister

By Tamsin Oxford in Freebies on 31 January, 2010 at 5:00 pm

Free Storybooks And Activities @ Stories For My Little SisterThis is one of the most adorable websites I’ve ever seen, mostly because of the lovely sentiment behind it.  Stories for my Little Sister is a site packed with free books and activities for toddlers.

The site was developed by two sisters that used to create stories for each other when they were children. They’ve taken those stories, and the artwork that goes with them, and loaded them onto a site for everyone to enjoy.

The stories are delightfully unique and have a wonderful child-like joy that really does make you feel as if you’ve been taken back to a time when your imagination was able to run free and unfettered. It is, in short, a delight.

Free Storybooks And Activities @ Stories For My Little SisterParents will enjoy exploring some of these stories with their kids and you can download and print out some artwork for them to colour in themselves. I simply adore this idea and spent some enchanting hours on the site.

You’ll read about Cricket and Watson and follow a lot of stories about Stinky the skunk. There are also colouring and memory games for you to play with your kids. Have fun in this magical little spot on the internet.

In The Night Garden Upsy Daisy Bedside Table @ Toymaster £9.99

By Heidi Scrimgeour in Deals on 31 January, 2010 at 5:00 pm

Bargain is a word we bandy about all the time here at Play Pennies but this In The In The Night Garden Upsy Daisy Bedside Table @ Toymaster £9.99Night Garden Upsy Daisy bedside table really is an absolute bargain.

In fact it would probably rank as a bargain at its usual price of £34.99  but right now Toymaster are offering it with a rather lovely price-tag of just £9.99.

There are just three reviews on the Toymaster website but they’re all glowing. The customers who bought it all agree that it’s excellent quality and sturdy to boot, which impressed me because the 2 little drawers are described as ‘fabric’ and I’ve often found that fabric furniture and energetic toddlers do not mix all that well.  But this sounds like an exception to that rule so I don’t suppose they’ll stay in stock for long.In The Night Garden Upsy Daisy Bedside Table @ Toymaster £9.99

I’ve yet to meet a pre-schooler who doesn’t love In The Night Garden and Upsy Daisy has to be one of cutest TV characters for quite some time. With that crazy hair and dress sense she appeals to most little girls and this  would make an ideal addition to a little lady’s playroom or bedroom, perfect for storing books or toys in.

All together now; Upsy Daisy here I come, I’m the only Upsy one, I’m the only Daisy too, Ipsy Upsy Daisy Doo!

Timmy Time Pocket Library £2.99 (was £4.99) delivered @ Amazon

By Sarah Kensington in Deals on 31 January, 2010 at 1:00 pm

Timmy Time Pocket Library £2.99 (was £4.99) delivered @ AmazonIf only it could be Timmy Time ALL the time!  He’s such a cheeky little character I don’t think little kids will ever tire of him.

We can watch Timmy on TV but sometimes it’s nice to turn it off and look at books instead – cue the little Timmy Time Pocket Library!  Opinion is often divided over these little cardboard book collections with some people feeling cheated that there’s not much text, but I think they’re GREAT especially for the younger end of the toddler age range.

The books pages are easy to turn, they’re not too big so can easily be put in a bag and taken out, they’re bright and colourful and don’t take very long to read, having only a sentence or two at the most on each page – there’s plenty of time for your little bookworms to read the highbrow literary classics when they’re a little older!

Timmy Time Pocket Library £2.99 (was £4.99) delivered @ AmazonThere are five little cardboard books in this Timmy Time collection and come in a carboard display box to keep them all together.  Lovely!

Amazon will send these to you in return for just £2.99 of your hard-earned money; a baaaaargain (SORRY!!!)

Fisher Price: Chatter Phone £3.99 @ Play.com

By Heidi Scrimgeour in Deals on 31 January, 2010 at 11:00 am

Remember these? This cute little Fisher Price telephone is a timeless toy classic Fisher Price: Chatter Phone £3.99 @ Play.comand it’s just £3.99, down from £5.99 at Play.com now.

Everyone had these when I was a kid so if you fancy a retro gift or a trip down memory lane then this could be ideal.

There are a couple of reviews of the item on Play.com and both customers complain that the cord that connects the phone to the handset is too short but I’m guessing that’s a safety precaution.

I’ve no idea why but babies ADORE phones. From well before they can speak it seems to be completely innate for them to imitate phone chat and it’s one of the cutest baby foibles. Both my lads had toy phones around their 1st birthdays and several years later they’re still on the go. Only these days they use them to pretend to call each other up when they’re orchestrating elaborate rescue missions.

Fisher Price: Chatter Phone £3.99 @ Play.comI read one review from a customer who pointed out that their baby didn’t have a clue what to do with this toy, since it’s so far removed from the modern phones we all use but I don’t reckon that would be an issue. The googly eyes and pull along string are likely to make it a hit with many a little person, regardless of whether they realise what it is!

20% Off My Little Wardrobe @ Vertbaudet

By Heidi Scrimgeour in Deals on 31 January, 2010 at 9:00 am

This is a cute idea. At Vertbaudet you can get 20% of  your favourite item in the lovely new 20% Off My Little Wardrobe @ VertbaudetMy Little Wardrobe range.

Vertbaudet have basically put together a range of complete outfits (including shoes) for both boys and girls so you can clad your kid from head to toe from as little as £29. They have a My Little Wardrobe range for babies, too.

This cute baby boy outfit consists of a jersey polo shirt over a checked poplin shirt to create that cool layered effect. The shirt has a wide neckline and the polo shirt has press-studs, making it is easy to slip over baby’s head. The light canvas Bermuda shorts have a fully elasticated waistband and – my fave when it comes to baby clothing – press-studs around the inside leg for effortless nappy changes.  Genius idea, whoever thought of that. No more needless screaming as you strip your babe butt-naked in freezing changing rooms just to get to their nappy. The whole look is yours for £19 and if you enter the code 1298 at checkout you’ll get 20% off your favourite item.

20% Off My Little Wardrobe @ VertbaudetSimilarly these boys jeans are just £12.00 and you can pick up a pack of two tees to team with them for £7. Don’t forget that code for 20% off.

The jeans have loads of combat style pockets – a huge hit with little boys – and they come in 3 designs and a choice of either stonewashed denim or canvas fabric. They also have the all-important adjustable waistband – a must for growing lads – and they’re 100% cotton.

It has to be said that there are cheaper clothes for children out there but it’s the quality of Vertbaudet’s clothing that gets my vote, so with this saving and the snazzy My Little Wardrobe range this is a great place to get your little ‘uns’ summer wardrobes sorted. Talking of summer, I wonder if we’ll ever see the sun again…

Baby freebies: FREE Nitty Gritty Comb from your GP

By Sarah Kensington in Freebies on 30 January, 2010 at 5:00 pm

Baby freebies: FREE Nitty Gritty Comb from your GPI was going to post this first thing this morning, but I didn’t have the heart to subject you to talk of nits and headlice over breakfast!  Before you read on, I apologise for any itching feelings you experience as a result of what I’m about to say…

If I had a pound for every hour that I’ve spent going through my daughter’s hair with conditioner and an ordinary nit comb, or the money back on A L L the different off-the-shelf and over-the-counter headlice treatments I’ve bought over the years then I’d be seriously in the money by now!

If there’s on thing guaranteed to get me ranting and raving on my soapbox it’s the subject of headlice!  They are hideous things and whilst I’m sure there must be a reason for their existence on the planet, I cannot for the LIFE of me see what positive contribution they make to civilisation and therefore they are NOT WELCOME!

Gone are the days when ‘Nurse Nitty Nora’ came round to school and checked through everyone’s hair, sending anyone home who was playing house for these pointless little bugs, thus keeping the rest of us safe from infestation (is your head starting to itch yet…?).  The only thing that gets sent home these days is a letter telling you there is an outbreak of headlice in your child’s class – great! thanks for that fantastic piece of school news!

Fear not intrepid parents! The ULTIMATE comb and weapon in the war against headlice is here and if you’re prepared to ‘fight’ for it you can get one free from your GP as it’s available on prescription (make sure they write it out in your child’s name) and has been since 2004!!  WHY is this not common knowledge!? The cynic in me knows why but that would be a whole other post!

Simply click on the link above, read what to do, print off the letter and give it to your GP.  It will show them you mean business and aren’t prepared to be fobbed off – they don’t like giving these away but this is WAR against bugs and all’s fair in bugs and war!

Baby freebies: FREE Nitty Gritty Comb from your GPThe Nitty Gritty comb quickly and easily removes ALL  head lice, nits (empty egg cases) and even the ‘live’ eggs which other combs and chemicals leave behind to hatch a new generation of little monsters in your children’s hair (I used to have to drag these off one by one with my finger nails, urgh shudder!).

Spending entire evenings and weekends combing through hair and picking out crawling bugs is one of THE most horrendous parental jobs I’ve had to endure to date!  It’s NO fun for you or your child!  So BE PREPARED, get the comb from your GP and take the ‘War on Headlice’ to new levels!

You can stop itching now and I’ll get off my soapbox and b r e a t h e.

Free 500ml Bottle Of New Flash @ Febreeze

By Tamsin Oxford in Freebies on 30 January, 2010 at 3:00 pm

Free 500ml Bottle Of New Flash @ Febreeze

If you’d like to net yourself a tidy bottle of Flash for absolutely no money whatsoever then you’ve just come to the right place. All you need to do is fill in a questionnaire that will determine whether or not you are eligible to take part in the trial.

The questions they send you are short and snappy so it won’t take you long to get this survey underway and find out if you are eligible. I wish I knew what the criteria are for this, it’s certainly fascinating to participate.

Once you get your new cleaner you have to share your feedback with the company and everyone else on the UK or Irish websites. That’s pretty much all you have to do. It’s a bit of work for a freebie but it’s not as much work as missioning off to the shops and buying a bottle or three…

Celebaby: Matthew McConaughey Shows Off Daughter And Gisele Bundchen Reveals She Gave Birth In The Bath!

Celebaby: Matthew McConaughey Shows Off Daughter And Gisele Bundchen Reveals She Gave Birth In The Bath!

Behold, the beautiful people! Proud Dad Matthew McConaughey has shown off his girlfriend Camila Alves and their gorgeous baby daughter, Vida Alves McConaughey, on his official website. The criminally good-looking couple have an 18 month-old son called Levi, and their daughter’s name means ‘life’ in Portuguese.

Matthew accompanied his pic with this:

‘Here’s a pic of our latest family member Vida Alves McConaughey. Thanks for all your well wishes our way, the future’s lookin’ bright, just keep livin’, Matthew and Camila.’

Celebaby: Matthew McConaughey Shows Off Daughter And Gisele Bundchen Reveals She Gave Birth In The Bath! And speaking of beautiful people, supermodel Gisele Bundchen has revealed to the Brazilian magazine Fantastico that she gave birth in the bath-tub. I’m guessing she had a water birth but some reports make it sound as though the babe made his entrance unexpectedly. Gisele and husband Tom Brady welcomed their son into the world in December last year. She told the magazine ‘I am living a very special moment in my life. Benjamin is a blessing and I could not be happier.’
